Anyone know of the current status of this great Sid James sitcom?Apparently, five episodes were recovered a few years back to add to the already existing six eps from the first series.Anyone know exactly which episodes were found?I have the first series along with"Elope" & "Watchdog" from series two & three, and extracts from "Crusty bread" episode.Must say the series deteriorated immensely after Galton & Simpson moved on after the first series, but personally ,anything featuring Sid is alright by me.(even "Two in clover")!Although nothing exists from his A-R sitcom "East end west end", it is comforting at least to know one episode of "Taxi" exists,& even more comforting to know that a further six episodes are in private hands.I have seen extracts from the Taxi ep "The Accident",but, does this exist in its entirety?

"...there is a clip from "The Accident" in a programme called "More Than Meets the Eye" tx'd 20/5/65 (it was about tv violence, the clip doesn't feature Sid James, as far as I remember)."

These are the only episodes the BBC hold: CITIZEN JAMES:THE RACE......................... 24/11/60 CITIZEN JAMES:THE ELIXIR....................... 01/12/60 CITIZEN JAMES:THE MONEY........................ 08/12/60 CITIZEN JAMES:THE RIVALS....................... 15/12/60 CITIZEN JAMES:THE RAFFLE....................... 22/12/60 CITIZEN JAMES:THE BRAND IMAGE.................. 29/12/60 CITIZEN JAMES:CRUSTY BREAD..................... 09/10/61 CITIZEN JAMES:TEENAGERS........................ 11/12/61 CITIZEN JAMES:THE WATCHDOG..................... 02/11/62 CITIZEN JAMES:THE JURY......................... 23/11/62 I'm not aware of even hearing that any more had been found. I didn't know there were more episodes of "Taxi" in private hands - forgive me, but it sounds somewhat unlikely, though if true, I don't suppose the collector(s) in question would be willing to contact the BBC? (Probably a silly question...)

It also seems that the Citizen James ep "OLD AGE PENSIONER" exists as well as a complete edition of the Taxi episode "THE ACCIDENT" in the BBC vaults!

If that's the case, then I think we should have a DVD release! James, where did you aquire, that info from? Because, if it's true, then that's great news...

"OLD AGE PENSIONER" was one of the five episodes recovered in the late nineties. The TAXI episode was found on a untitled 16mm can apparently,as three reliable sources have substantiated this including a thread on this forum a few months ago. It's rumoured that a 12 minute extract survives from the Sid James A-R sitcom EAST END WEST END.Hopefully some proof of this will be forthcoming very soon!

"Old Age Pensioner" doen't exist - it was though to but the episode was mis-identified and was in fact "Teenagers". Someone confused the recording date with the transmission date.
The taxi episode "The Accident" doesn't exist complete - there is a clip from it only, in an episode of the discussion series "More Than Meets the Eye" shown 20/5/65.

Another cock up with the titles eh!Still, ten episodes of CITIZEN JAMES is'nt at all bad, definitely worthy of a dvd release.Different story regarding TAXI as apparently(theres that dreaded word again), 2 episodes are floating about on the P.P.S!! I'll see if i can obtain copies of both before confirming this.Fingers crossed!

Steve Marriott of the Small Faces had an early acting role in Citizen James. In fact I think it's in the Teenagers episode which I'm glad to see is one of the surviving ones!

Isn't 'Elope' and 'The Teenagers' the same episode?
As two teenagers, elope, in one of them...

"Teenagers" is the correct title though (according to the BBC Enterprises sales brochure c.1964). OK, Ents aren't infallible where it comes to titles (e.g. Dr Who of the era) but until there's better evidence for "Elope"...
