During one interview about his Jos recoveries, Phil did say that the 12 DW reel cans were in “pretty good condition.” But he also said “We arrived just in time. Any longer and we’d have had real problems recovering those programmes. We arrived absolutely in the nick of time.” I remember that contridiction. I always wondered if it could have meant in danger of being nicked by a collector hence the "have had real problems recovering those programs."

Or perhaps an attempt to flush out any further recoveries which may or may not be rotting away in an attic or garden shed?

m.youtube.com/watch?v=6a0pS3lubwoPhil is primarily referring to the way they’d been stored over the years. There may still be hope for any prints out there which have been stored in better conditions, but perhaps not if they’ve been held in similar conditions to Jos.

I think he found more than just enemy and web. The reason I say this is because shortly after the recoveries I went to a convention in Bournemouth and peter purves was there. I said how sad it was that a lot of your stories are missing. He said something like tell me about it. He went on to say that he heard they had recovered this one (he pointed to a picture of the massacre) but he said it was to far gone. I have mentioned this on another thread but thought it worth repeating. I wish I quizzed him more but I didn't. before anyone asks he didn't reveal his source and didn't say how bad the prints were. That was all he said. It left me thinking at the time I wonder what else he found. Weather damaged or otherwise. But then maybe I don't want to know. So near yet so far.

What happens is that sometimes is that these hoaxes are spread by fans, and sooner or later these are told to the actors. This creates credibility that isn't there. Then again, Peter Purves did say this to the audience at a convention in 2017.

One thing I find heartening is the fact that a Special Edition release of Web Of Fear is not even being discussed at all anywhere. This must surely indicate that Phillip is still actively looking or negotiating for the the stolen episode 3.If the game was up then there would have been an animated replacement or some mention of a forthcoming release. As yet, none so far so his search must still be ongoing which is a testament to the man's dedication.

It’s a ME that was known to exist in late 2011.

Or perhaps an attempt to flush out any further recoveries which may or may not be rotting away in an attic or garden shed? I believe that the "Just in time" comment was about stopping a staff member from the station doing a stock check and finding out of contract material, thus lending the possibility that the cans could have been ditched.
