With thanks to Adam Smith on Twitter I borrowed this photo from the Sons and Lovers facebook group. They didn't know for sure which show the image came from, but with the drum riser looking nearly identical to how it appeared on the Move show the week before I'm fairly sure it's from their Colour Me Pop. Compare and contrast:

If this image is from CMP then surely it's from a viewing tape. If so, shouldn't that tape survive?

But the colour image has a timecode on it, or am I missing something?

But the colour image has a timecode on it, or am I missing something? Sadly it’s only the B&W photo we are discussing, the Move colour footage is just there to compare the set for the drums to identify the photo as CMP.

Ah, sorry about that Ant: I can see now how my post would have been confusing. The colour image is just from the well-known Move programme that has been known to exist for years: it's the black and white off screen image that is from the missing Sons and Lovers show.

Ah, thanks for clarifying! Was a bit puzzled for a while. Still, it's good for a new image to surface of a lost show.

A second off air photo from the same show, now confirmed as Colour Me Pop by the band members too. (they only took these two photos in total though!)

Brilliant! And they were watching in colour too- the TV is a 1967/8 Philips G6 series dual standard colour.

I went to Mikey's annual open house event in Solihull earlier this years, it was well worth seeing some of his collection for real after following his site for years.
