Rare photographs that show the first appearance of Daleks in Doctor Who have been put up for sale 55 years after they were first published. The telesnaps (off-screen photos) taken during filming - were often the only surviving record of early TV programmes and actors and directors would use them as examples of their work. The 40 small pictures were acquired by Christopher Barry, who in 1963 directed the second series of Doctor Who - the first to feature Daleks. Ah, meticulously researched, vigorously authenticated, quality journalism as usual I see! Just a mere handful of glaringly lazy factual errors this time, that's all. ....on a slightly less sarcastic note, given the aforementioned errors I genuinely don't understand what's being auctioned off here tbh. After all tele-snaps for Power of The Daleks already exist, the story isn't obviously the first to feature the Daleks, doesn't hail from 1963 nor was it broadcast during the show's second series..... Anyone?!

Chris Barry directed the first (Hartnell) Dalek story and also Power of the Daleks. As you say, faulty research probably led the journalist to Troughton's first story, as opposed to Hartnell's SECOND story. A bit sloppy on the research! Also, I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere (where?) that Barry did retain the original Dalek telesnaps.
