Well lets all hope that it does make the final "cut" of the documentary. If it does, then i think it will be major news, as the jean genie recovery was a few years ago. I have to say, I have a bit of trouble accepting the lift off digitization story . I have a memory of reading about 10cc looking for early 70s footage in the late 80's. They stated that their first TV appearance was on lift off, but unfortunately the master tapes had been re-used??? who knows?? Granada did have good habits regarding archive, but maybe lift off was an early casualty?
That digitisation error, it it genuinely happened as reported, seems fairly extraordinary. Are we aware of anything like that having happened before with TV archive material? I have a vague memory that perhaps an EastEnders episode was junked in error during archiving to D3?
Just to be clear, I thought it was agreed that the lift off junking story was just Ayshea being EXTREMELY out of the loop and not understanding that this was common practice. She complains about being cheated out of "repeat fees" which she didn't seem to miss for 40 years but a few years ago got upset about because she didn't understand what she was told.
