Grampian TV was my local ITV station. I’ve often wondered what happened to their archive. The studio is long gone. They lost the franchise a long time ago.

Well this could be amazing.....if the footage can be salvaged to a reasonable quality. Fingers crossed. Must admit I hadn't heard of 'Lift Off With Ayshea' before now....and after searching for more information about the show I realise why: almost the entire series was wiped in an administrative 'mix up' during the series intended digitisation/preservation. Words cannot..... Still, on a lighter note I saw a picture of Ayshea and immediately exclaimed to myself 'hang on, I recognise her, she was in UFO'! And indeed she was. Small world.

This is potentially great news. The emphasis there is on potentially. BBC teletext says it may
be included in the docu. The tape may be too fragile etc. I'm worried they are seizing on this to give the docu maximum publicity. I'd love to know who these mystery tapers were in the late 60's and early 70's. Presumably you'd have to live near London to get one of these machines. What would they have cost? The equivalent of a car? Great Radio Times cover of the Deviant One. He really does look the biz!

I see on FB that Chris from Kal has the same thoughts as me re publicity.
Is the Bowie find from the kal tapes mentioned at the start of the year? Or another source?

Do we know what format this tape is?

That digitisation error, it it genuinely happened as reported, seems fairly extraordinary. Are we aware of anything like that having happened before with TV archive material? I have a vague memory that perhaps an EastEnders episode was junked in error during archiving to D3?

It didn't make the special screening Q&A night hosted by Adam Buxton so it looks to be lost. Very sad they put such news out to us all.

If so, they could learn something from those who have not announced recoveries prematurely in the past. If it couldn't salvaged, that is a real bummer.

I read that they were going to wait until next Wednesday to decided whether to include the Ayesha film or not.
