HEALTH WARNING.... THIS POST IS FRIGHTENINGLY BORING.

You'll notice near the end of the 'Funky Gibbon' (Emperor Rosko 10/04/1975, repeat performance of 20/03/1975) that there's cut-ins of Rosko, Pan's People and some crowd scenes
....watch from 2.30 to about 2.36....and you'll see the Goodies in 'Eckythump' attire....
Odd....especially if you're an obsessive TOTP """"expert""""" and you spot a member of Yin and Yan in the same shot (man in blonde wig, drag, bottom right)....
Yin and Yan only graced the TOTP studio once (10/04/1975, same edition, promoting 'If'....now, then (yodel)....this means the Goodies were on the TOTP studio for that edition, and wore 'Eckythump' outfits....so why was that? Strange, because, as I previously stated this performance was a repeat, with the exception of the aforementioned cut-ins....
I also might point out that Pan's People are in the same outfits they wore for their dance to 'Swing Your Daddy'.
My theory....they were going to do another recording of 'Funky Gibbon' (still high in the charts), which wasn't shown for unknown reasons (if that happened it was normally because the performance was inferior, rather than the camera work as anyone who has seen the 'wiped' PVL 'Juke Box Jive' will testify...), hence the repeat with intercuts. While they were there they also PRE-RECORDED a version of 'Black Pudding Bertha' (hence the outfits) which was released at the beginning of June '75 and premiered on TOTP, 12/06/1975.
Incidentally, despite all three versions of BPB being wiped by the BBC, Ken Holmes domestically recorded one of the performances on a U-Matic.
His recordings formed the so-called 'PVL' archive (Private Video Library) that was hawked around collectors and now finally resides with Kaleidoscope. There was one performance where the tape was damaged so badly that it could not be saved....Black Pudding Bertha.
One other thing to note, if you've made it this far through the ME Forum's most mind-numbing post to date....the TOTP version of 'Funky Gibbon' is a partially re-recorded part-mimed and part-live version....seriously....the re-recorded backing track caused problems, as Bill Oddie said:- ""It always amused me that no one could play 'The Funky Gibbon' except Dave Macrae. It's actually really hard, a really busy clavinet part. When you did Top of the Pops in those days, you were supposed to use the orchestra, and I thought: they'll never play it. So I said to Dave the first time we did it: 'Would you mind coming to the studio because we're gonna have trouble with this?' And we dropped the music down in front of the Top of the Pops guy and he went: 'H-h-hah, I can't do this.' And I said: 'That's alright, I know a man who can.' "", so, that takes care of the backing track being redone. If you watch the clip, you'll notice many of the asides and vocals are live, but much of the vocals aren't....
(The only thing more anal than this post is the book with all the numbers of pi in it. Plus i'm going to type 'hence' again. HENCE.)
