From Stuart Humphryes (@babelcolour) on Twitter: "Some wonderful news for my Doctor Who followers - 73 hitherto unseen photographs from Patrick Troughton's 1967 story 'The Abominable Snowmen' have been found at the National Library of Wales." search.digido.org.uk/?id=llgc-id%3A1578047&query=%2A&query_type=full_text&page=831&img_id=1
Some of the photos do look familiar, but there are some corkers there, particularly of Travers' ruined camp (IMO). I understand that some/all of the set will be printed in the next issue of Richard Bignell's 'Nothing at the End of the Lane'.

Hopefully some of these photos could be used to make a new reconstruction closer to what the original looked like.

Yes, what a wonderful photo. It's made my mind up, I'm going for the Abominable Snowmen on the other thread as my most hoped for recovery. Watching it when it was originally broadcast, it made almost as much of an impression as Web, and what a great forerunner it proved to be.

Some cracking photos, particularly the ones with the doctor near Travers’ tent.

These are brilliant. If the Abominable Snowmen gets found someday, it'll make for a good DVD extra.

Watching it when it was originally broadcast, it made almost as much of an impression as Web, and what a great forerunner it proved to be. I have always been of the opinion that Web and Abominable were two of the finest things that 60s had to offer. I was right on Web (although of course some will differ in their assessment) and I strongly suspect that Abominable would be another absolute classic. The existing episode is an outstanding example of just how good British TV could be 'back in the day'. The pic I posted above is destined to be printed onto a canvas for my den wall, higher resolution scan or not

Great photos. I like the shot with the Doc and Jamie reacting to the Yeti blocking the Tardis, and the Deborah Watling stand-in with the rolled up trousers!
