The BBC digital station Radio 4 Extra is currently broadcasting a set of episodes from the radio show ' The Clitheroe Kid' that were last heard in 1960, and which until this month were believed lost. The first broadcast was last week. The episodes are being broadcast on Sundays, at 8am and 12 noon. On July 8th they broadcast s03e02, Clitheroe's Merry Go Round, from 1960-04-11. Today they are broadcasting s03e04, All At Sea, from 1960-04-25. Next Sunday they will be broadcasting s03e06, Nothing But The Truth, from 1960-05-09. These are all from Series 3: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00clb4p/episodesYou can listen live to the station with VLC media player, on this link: as-hls-uk-live.bbcfmt.hs.llnwd.net/pool_6/live/bbc_radio_four_extra/bbc_radio_four_extra.isml/bbc_radio_four_extra-audio%3d320000.m3u8I was recently given a copy of details supplied by Keith Wickham, who restores episodes from many shows for broadcasting on Radio 4 Extra. Keith's log of the BBC's archive holdings for this particular series had those episodes listed as lost transcription discs, not held at BBC Perivale. But six months later, here they are on-air. In case it is of use to anyone, here is a copy of the .doc file (Word 97 format) currently being circulated, listing surviving episodes of ' The Clitheroe Kid'. My understanding is that 211 editions of the show survive, meaning there are 79 episodes currently missing out of the original 290 broadcasts aired between 1956 and 1972. www.mediafire.com/file/nr5zrq0lb83j15a/Clitheroe+Kid+-+Surviving+Recordings.docThe new location of the Jimmy Clitheroe website is clitheroekid.ihostfull.com.
