Well if the article in The Mirror is correct that appears correct we are getting the following EXCLUSIVE BY NICOLA METHVEN TV Editor "EIGHT lost Doctor Who episodes from the 1960s are being animated for DVD release using the original soundtracks. "The BBC destroyed film prints of over 100 episodes in the decade, thinking no one would want to watch black and white shows after colour TV launched. "Now all four parts of 1967's The Macra Terror and four missing episodes from The Wheel in Space, shown in 1968, will have animation married to the original TV soundtracks. "Both star the second Doctor, Patrick Troughton. "The move comes after BBC bosses last year completed an unfinished story called Shada, featuring fourth Doctor Tom Baker, with animation and new voice recordings." Maybe this is what Paul Vanezis was alluding to just after Graham Strong tragically passed away-what would be produced using his off-air soundtracks in the years to come.

The BBC loves to sell it to us god knows how many times so they sold me the missing episodes on CD back in the 1990's,so for sure they will sell me an animated DVD of missing episode's and knowing me as well as I do if and when the episodes do turn up ill by them on DVD and no doubt a year later a Blue Ray when it follows

What I would be curious about is if an episode returned and it gave better insight into the serial, would they go back and reanimate everything else with the new information? For example, if there's no know images of a particular set. Well if the article in The Mirror is correct that appears correct we are getting the following EXCLUSIVE BY NICOLA METHVEN TV Editor "EIGHT lost Doctor Who episodes from the 1960s are being animated for DVD release using the original soundtracks. I wouldn't be wanting to give them the satisfaction of clicks even if they were 100% accurate about it though.

Hummm, the mirror....
Do we have a more reputable source for this? Thinking back to all I have read on the mirror about Dr Who, I roll my eyes. If they do Macra, I pray they take more time in animation that the rushed production of power. Dr who classics deserve better.

I don't see the BBC intentionally animating an episode that they have recovered (and not released) Should they do that some one at BBC Worldwide would end up tarred and feathered.
Now had an episode been already animated and then the original turns up then you would release both on the same DVD. Ite the right thing to do in that situation

So sometimes the tabloids do have a real story. This one did seem weirdly specific, to be sure.
Curious thing, presuming the Macra half also is true: this winnows down missing-and-not-rebuilt Troughton stories to three from season 4, two from 5, and one from 6. It's not an unreasonable stretch at this point to complete even his most scorched season for, say, a Blu-Ray set.

Take a look at the section underneath about sponsored products related to this item.I swear the Armaid Basic Foam Massage Tool looks exactly like a Kroton's appendage!Brilliant-a subtle clue to an up-coming colour,wide-screen,5.1 surround sound animation of my favourite Troughton story-THE KROTONS!Happy days...

The recon is now on the British version of BritBox.
I have stayed up and fought through my turkey and alchohol induced exhaustion to see if any missing episode material has been quietly uploaded to the service by way of sneaky Christmas treat...and it hasn't. Lovely to see most surviving material and animations is on there but there's nothing "new" from the classic series.
