Was it '66? Thought it was '67 but you may be right. It was round about then - I clearly remember watching the first episode!

1966!! Flip!
I understand Jack Hargreaves was the founder member and Bunty James I have heard of but never seen.
Were Messrs Dineage and Miller involved then, or did they come in later?

And How 2 arrived in 1990, with Fred "Mr Southern/TVS/Meridian" Dinenage, Gareth "Gaz Top" Jones and Carol "That woman off Countdown" Vorderman.
The anniversary programme could have been with the whole '50 Years of ITV' thing in 1995, where amongst other things Fred became 'Bad Influence's Nam Rood and Carol became Neil Buchanan. Then again, it could not.

John. How! to describe it.
Four presenters at a bench, two off side .
Many questions you might ask for example
-------------------- "how do you balance a glass of water on your head"
the two youthful presenters Bunty James and Fred Dynage would deal with the more physical questions like that. -------------------
questions like " how does a steam engine work"
would be dealt with by the resident boffin Jon Miller -----------
olde worldy questions like "how did your grandma suck eggs"
would get old Jack Hargreaves sucking on his pipe and telling you. --------------
Distinctive Red Indian pow wow HOW! theme tune

How was definitely on in Granadaland - I used to watch it over the years. It was a fully networked show.
