So what is your favorite missing serial. This isn't the one you want most returned or anything like that, it's just which is your favorite, irrelevant of how many episodes are extant or missing.
My personal favorite is The Invasion.
However, I am yet to see The Evil of the Daleks, which I hear is really good. It's the only Troughton I haven't seen yet and I'm saving watching it for its 50th anniversary in May.

Ian, I'm confused as your poll is entitled "missing episode" but the entries refer to whole stories as does your opening commentary. Perhaps I'm "missing" something? Apologies for the dreadful pun...

My bad. I meant missing serials. I mix them up fairly often because most of my peers do not know what a serial is so I call the serials episodes in normal conversation so that messes me up when dealing with people who do know because I default to missing episode.

At the moment Snowmen & Evil or possibly Fury.

As always, I chose Power, but Evil, Masterplan, Marco and Galaxy 4 are runners up. It would also be nice to have the two episodes of The Invasion back as well though.

Power Of The Daleks is my third favourite Doctor Who story of all time so I can't choose anything other than that, it manages to get all the elements of a good Doctor Who story in the right place while being a brilliant new Doctor story as well as in my opinion the best portrayal of the Daleks we have ever scene.

Ok thanks Ian. Whilst I'd like Invasion to be complete I can live with it for now but really want Power back for all the usual reasons. Abominable and Evil might supplant Power on a different day because they have such atmospheric stories though I can claim only vague memories of this for Evil whilst the attraction of Abominable Snowmen is based on my very old Target novelisation.

Not a popular choice, but I went for Myth Makers. I just find it so amusing, I'd love to see it properly. But my preference might change day to day . It did occur to me though that we are very lucky to be able to pass judgement on the missing episodes at all. We owe those people who made the audio recordings quite a bit, not to mention the telesnaps!

I couldn't possibly not vote for my all-time favourite: The Power of the Daleks.
However, there are many others I'd love to have back above others: The Smugglers, The Highlanders, The Macra Terror, The Abominable Snowmen, Fury from the Deep...
Hell, even The Space Pirates is on my list of ones I'd love back as it's one that I think would pleasantly surprise many...

It did occur to me though that we are very lucky to be able to pass judgement on the missing episodes at all. We owe those people who made the audio recordings quite a bit, not to mention the telesnaps! The Myth Makers is definitely a favorite of mine. It is my #1 Hartnell episode, missing or not missing. It just has such excellent dialogue and extremely memorable characters, of which you can somehow like all of them, even Odysseus. It has an excellent balance of humor and drama and gets very dark at the end. I think my favorite character is Paris. I really wish that he had ended up being the new companion instead of Katarina. The conversations between him and the first Doctor would have been legendary. Yes, I think the Myth Makers is a perfectly reasonable choice. I made a list of my top 25 Classic episodes recently (because I do that) and The Myth Makers came in 17th, the 5th missing episode, and the 3rd mostly or completely missing episode. The episodes that beat it were The Invasion (2nd), The Web of Fear (4th), Fury from the Deep (6th), and The Power of the Daleks (16th). The other missing episodes in my top 25 were The Moonbase (18th), Mission to the Unknown (22nd), and The Faceless Ones (24th).

I couldn't have put it better myself about Power! 100% agree with you! Also on another note, great video about your feelings towards Series 10, I'm expecting the worst, but you never know!

I'm surprised the lack of love for what Terrance dicks called their greatest adventure. The final end of the daleks, the epic evil of the daleks. I gave it my vote

I gave it my vote I was torn between DMP and Evil and voted for DMP based solely on the number of episodes that would be recovered, but it was a cruel choice for me.

I actually quite liked the portrayal of Odysseus, particularly how distrustful and dubious he was of the Doctor. He might have been rough, but he was no fool. Paris is quite good as well though, and I had to laugh at the way he presented the Tardis to the King - not to mention when he went out "looking" for Achilles. Out of curiosity, what was your top choice?
