Brilliant stuff the Massacres been one i've been putting off simply due to how much material simply doesnt exist of it good to hear Loose Canon Lives! (Sort of) xD I hope and pray the illusive updated version of Power of the Daleks comes next, that baby's been one I've been sitting on now for nearly 4 years with anticipation

Doesn't sound promising does it? The Massacre. Not remebered very well. Only stills and soundtrack. I was lucky enough to see only episodes 2and 4 on original broadcast. But this reconstruction is simply marvellous. Nay, brilliant. I have watched this several times. Tells the story so well you could almost not need the actual episodes. Well done! A real pleasure to watch. Please can we have this on DVD?

Initially i was skeptical that the previous version could be improved on, but after watching it, I was very impressed. What made it more amazing is there are no telesnaps from it existing.

In terms of what is actually 'lost' from 'The Massacre' - i.e everything bar a few publicity pics and the soundtrack - I found the Loose Cannon recon a remarkable triumph, in fact I couldn't believe while I was watching it how much was achieved from so little. A stunning feat indeed, a marvellous achievement. In fact, should in the future another imcomplete 60s story be availed of a further episode (like 'The Underwater Menace' was for example), the Beeb should buy in or commission a Loose Cannon recon of the remaining missing episodes, rather than blowing thousands on animations / cartoons for a DVD.

One thing I noticed that was beneficial to the reconstruction is the memories of those who saw the show originally. .
Unusual things, like the abbot wearing white, was not known during the first version. As viewers recall things not in the script, it gives more information to help make better reconstructions in the future.

Just watched the full recon for the first time - very impressive. Part 1 of Bell of Doom seemed blocked in UK so watched the older LC version which shows up the superior quality of the new version. With a bit more fine tuning this could surely be put out on a DVD box set with other missing episodes recreated. The sound quality of the newer version seemed sharper too. This format far excels the Underwater Menace basic telesnaps or the giddy animation of Reign of Terror.

With a bit more fine tuning this could surely be put out on a DVD box set with other missing episodes recreated. That would entirely depend upon the sources of each of the images used. If they're all BBC copyright, then they probably could (if they wanted to), but if any of the images are non-BBC copyright, then they would have to seek permission to use them (which may not be granted) and also pay for their use (which may be cost prohibitive).

I am so impressed with this. I love The Massacre and this one helped me better imagine what the story looked like than the original.
