Wondered if anyone can fill in on what exists of Peter Skellern in the Archives. I seem to recall seeing an off air of BBC2 closedown links c 1979 - 80 where they had slides of rabbits in snow ( ?!) fade and mixed with Skellern music playing. The track I think was a cover of 'the way you look tonight' and I bought the album with that 'SKELLERN' think title; at the time.
He had a lot of appearances on Pebble Mill I seem to recall and I may have seen some since. I'm aware the following don't exist:
TOTP 'you're a lady' 1972 - IN CONCERT Peter Skellern 1974. (BBC TV)
There is a studio appearance for 'you're a lady' which I think originates from the Dutch show 'top pop' and appeared on the 'Rock and roll greatest years' compilations.
Some years back now some colleagues of mine were working at the BBC and I was able to get them to cross check an entry in Infax for an appearance on 'THE BERYL REID SHOW' 1972. This listed 'you're a Lady' as being on that. The item may have been documented as a B+W T/R; but when checked up against a viewing copy the same catalogue number was on a different item. Can't recall exactly now but it was a Harry Secombe show from later. Maybe 'Secombes world of music' from 1978. So it's not clear one way or the other whether that appearance survives.
Goes without saying any 'LIFT OFF' won't survive. But what about the variety show appearances? There must have been plenty of those. Any help would be appreciated. - John

The TopPop appearance for "You're A Lady" is listed on YouTube, and is different to this one which looks like Beat Club (or Musikladen as it was then):
And this performance of "Hold On To Love" looks to me like a Top Of The Pops insert from German TV:

I hadn't seen that one for musikladen so thanks for that.
I think the 'hold on to love' logo is for festival TV channel; which indicates it's one of the European repeats of complete TOTP editions a few years back (but recent).
If anyone has any ideas about the Beryl Reid show appearance or Pebble Mill be pleased to hear.

The BFI has 53 filmographic records for Peter Skellern, 38 of which have holdings; including The Harry Secombe Show for the episode 09/12/72...which besides Peter Skellern has Beryl Reid on it.
This episode is held on VHS, Umatic and 1- inch C Format.
The majority of the 38 are for BBC, which includes 2 for Pebble Mill At One, one is 22/11/84, the other is 21/12/84...both BBC Birmingham. But several also for Yorkshire, Thames and the odd one for Westward,Granada,TSW or Television South West
Just checked BFI again and they hold an episode made by Television South West, or TSW called Cornwall, Land Of The Saints....an episode of Highway dated 19.04.1987 and as you know Highway was presented by Harry Secombe, same for this episode, so Harry and Peter Skellern must have got on very well?...
BFI also has a filmographic record for LWT, but no holding, but one episode for Westward, Granada, TSW and LWT

The Infax number at the BBC seemed to have got mixed up when I queried it. Maybe I was thinking of the 80s for Pebble mill. I think it was seldom recorded off air prior to 1982. There may have been some kind of special for regional ITV. The 1974 in concert is one of a very small body of late tapes which may have been wiped in error; as they are oddments amongst an otherwise complete series.
