Cybermen don't get tired surely!?! Definitely Revenge of the Cybermen outfit but good to see reaction of passerby/crew to the sight. I once saw two elderly gents in business suits nearly have heart attacks when an apparent "dummy" cyberman (Moonbase/Tomb outfit) they were viewing at a book festival in Edinburgh suddenly lurched into life towards them - hilarious!

There were some "leaked" photos in the late 1960s of Dalek operators smoking while sitting in the bottom half of the props, which damaged their mistique for a time.
While I've been cosplaying with friends we have had some funny looks while out & about.

Yes, the tram power wires in the background make that certain, I'd say.

Apologies to any confused readers - I was wittering gone on about the cybermen being tired thinking it was yawning but now that my eyes have adjusted it is clearly a smoking cyberman... Oh dear. Think I need to be reprogrammed.

People berate Revenge of the Cybermen but watching it originally back in 1975 it was a key story of Baker's first season. Still love it.And where would the manufacturers of Weetabix be without this serial to produce their wonderfully evocative standees on the back of their packets? The only way of representing the stories even before the Target novelisations!

Looks like it was taken outside the old Blackpool DW exhibition. Definitely is, Richard. Taken by fan David Beasley during the 1980 DWAS excursion to Blackpool. So the DWAS organised a coach trip to Blackpool? That sounds like it must have been a real laugh! Was the Cyberman one of the members having a gay man break or was it one of the attractions?

It was something that happened annually for several years running. Not sure if it was officially DWAS-run or a word of mouth thing involving DWAS members. I never got to go on the excursions, sadly, but my wife Alys did. They were very enjoyable by all accounts.

LOL!For some reason the mods bleeped out the letter a because I wrote the slang version of cigarette! Is it because it has negative connotations of homophobia?Odd. That is very odd, and rather annoying. It's a perfectly acceptable, traditional English slang term, and is not generally used in Britain in its American context. I wasn't aware this was an American site.
