Now it's my turn to be confused..for of 176 ME for Saturday Scene, 16 of these are listed at the bfi with holdings on VHS and also on other formats as indicated below..most of these 16 seem to be in a block of ME starting at ME 48 28/9/74 - ME 60 21/12/74 along with ME 62 4/1/75, ME 77 19/4/75 and ME 78 26/4/75.. the confusing thing is that these 16 which come up under Saturday Scene have London Bridge as the original title.. www.lostshows.com/default.aspx?search=saturday+scenewww.lostshows.com/default.aspx?search=london+bridgethis raises a number of interesting questions.. 1. thanks to John Green above, we know there have been several previous threads about Saturday Scene, did any of these indicate that S.S. and L.B are one and the same Show, or that one was part of the other, or that one was a spin-off of the other? 2. the link above for L.B. says that there were 33 episodes of L.B. 4 of which are still ME, were/are these 33 of L.B. also episodes of S.S. still listed as ME under S.S. and the 4 ME of L.B. do they tie up with dates for ME under S.S.? 3. Does the cast and crew for S.S. mirror the same for L.B.? 4. Does anyone have access to TV Times to check the dates of L.B. with S.S. to see if they tally please. There maybe other questions that occur to other members which haven't occurred to me. I am tied up today, so I will leave it in the capable hands of the other members to find answers to above and any other questions raised, hopefully by tomorrow, when I look, this will all be resolved...thanks everyone for you help

I am tied up today, so I will leave it in the capable hands of the other members to find answers to above and any other questions raised, hopefully by tomorrow, when I look, this will all be resolved...thanks everyone for you help London Bridge and Saturday Scene are different shows. Saturday Scene was essentially - in the beginning - a wraparound which was to link programmes within it (such as cartoons and childrens' films), which is where some of the confusion comes from. It outgrew itself due to the presence of Sally James, its' take up by some of the other regional ITV companies (but not ATV who had Tiswas....) and the fact the Saturday Scene components (such as popstar interviews, and semi-exclusive/exclusive promos) increased between 74 and 77. Here's a quote from flashback.com:- ""Saturday Scene ran from 1973 to 1977 on ITV (LWT): IT WASN’T all TISWAS and SIX FIFTY-FIVE SPECIAL for the lovely SALLY JAMES. In the mid-70s she was the host of this, your typical Saturday morning kids’ TV stuff (reading out letters, doing competitions, interviewing guests etc.) in between the likes of THUNDERBIRDS and assorted cartoonery. Occasionally followed at 11.00am (after a discreet break for JUNIOR POLICE FIVE) by a Saturday Scene Pop Scene special, featuring Sal’s “tips for the top”. Cartoons like the JETSONS, live action dramas like BEACHCOMBERS, film show CLAPPERBOARD and dismal magazine LONDON BRIDGE were all encompassed by the format. By ’76 it mutated into SUPERSONIC SATURDAY SCENE, with Sal joined by MIKE MANSFIELD of the ‘Sonic parish. Bought-in entertainment was boosted by SPACE 1999 – and deflated with TALES OF THE RIVERBANK. Towards the end they gave up even on that level of effort, and bunged a film like Charley’s Aunt across the schedule instead."" Hence the confusion. London Bridge was made by LWT, just as Saturday Scene was.

Was London Bridge a pop show or a teenage magazine similar to Thames tv's magpie? Christian I guess you are not far wrong to call it a teenage magazine...that TV Times Schedule above you 30/11/74 says 10.20 London Bridge Topics and activities involving the lower teens..introduced by Michael Whale. uk imdb and bfi call him Michael Wale. uk imdb has pop stars such as Marc Bolan, Lynsey De Paul appearing and the bfi holdings have Lynsey De Paul, Barry Blue and David Essex among casts..to name a few..

Excellent work Simon (as usual). Saturday Scene in 1974 was a 'wraparound', with links, that would have been going on from the start of the sequence at 9.30, to the last show prior to World of Sport, as the schedule suggests. London Bridge was produced by Mike Smith, who married Sally James....

Ray the Schedule did not suggest that Saturday Scene 'start of the sequence at 9.30' as you posted above, the 9.50 start time is as the Schedule says and I have amended the Schedule to show the 2 previous programmes that started at 9.00 and 9.25, as I informed you in the PM to you.
