I spoke to a lady today that is from JOS ! Now, she told me that back then people preserved anything they had, and still do. Her town had OCD in preserving eveyrthing ! Its her culture she said to look after ones history. So how Web and Enemy survived becomes clear This tells me unless people took without consent, which is a NO NO in jos then there is hope for more one day. She said JOS was an ok place to be, as much as any other. Jos has a strong don't chuck anything policy ! I found her words make a lot of sense as to how they survived in a country that does not have the wealth of many others for the Majority of people.

Hopefully that's the case with wheel and snowman also She said it was like a religion out there to preserve things. This makes so much sense as to why they are still here

Maybe it's us who are weird and spoiled with our mcdonalds consumption culture where everything is disposable.
I like your optimism, but it may be countered here by age, lack of archive facilities and policy, civil war, etcetera.

Or maybe there are things happening that we're not aware of.
while I'm not a believer in the omni rumor, i haven't heard an explanation explaining how Web enemy were separated from wheel snowman.

The first optimistic comment I've seen in a while and gratefully received! Hopefully this culture of respecting historical things will extend beyond Jos to the rest of Nigeria which is a huge country and increase the chance of new finds. I understand that Jos itself is the home of some TV and Film institutes though I'd be surprised if Phillip & Co had not checked out these obvious links. It would not though have unearthed any copies held in private hands. So I'm going to savour this update and hope for something else to emerge from the Troughton era...

I still have my Radio Times 10th anniversary Doctor Who special that I bought at the time (I was 10). It's a bit dog eared and scribbled on, but I have it. I hate throwing things away. And I actually think that's not an untypical trait for eccentric Brits like me. Richard

Richard, I don't suppose you've held on to any video tape recordings of an old BBC show called Dr Who with titles like Power of the Daleks or The Abominable Snowmen? Would you mind taking a look through your cupboards just in case? If only...

I like the optimistic take on this, but I'm not sure it's really an explanation as to why they survived. 1+1 might make 2, but with missing episodes we may as well be looking for the answer to 2384625.7372...

I find it fascinating that what she says is very interesting indeed ! She said that what you hear on the news is no where near as bad as broadcast ! Though trouble flares up at times. But this explains much about their culture of preservation AND WHY WE NOW HAVE THOSE 2 BACK

Would you mind taking a look through your cupboards just in case? If only... You have to remember that 45 years ago life in nigeria was very lets preserve everything. Even still today they hoard stuff. You have to be Nigerian to understand this ! And all of us now are very grateful for it Maybe if we cared that much we would not be talking here now lol.

It was really nice of you to shared this with us, actually. Given recent history this little piece of information carries with it more hope and value than any number of missing episode leads.
