This is on as I type, performances from various sources such as Supersonic, So It Goes, "A little night music" and so on..
Had Arthur Brown, The Clash, Johnny Cash and Alex Harvey. Ray Davies is doing Lola now.
Basically, Andy Kershaw is doing the Mark Radcliffe role, and it has the usual sarcastic captions, and it all looks like a cable cheapie, but its on ITV now.

The Razzmatazz clips were interesting to see as they probably haven't seen the light of day since they were first broadcast, but the picture quality is terrible as are "The Tube" clips - very soft fuzzy resolution I would have expected better as some editions of the Tube were shown on Sky Arts a couple of years back - they look poor even on the HD channel.

It's been good to see these clips again and about time ITV dug into their archives. A pity like TOTP2 that there has to be a voice over ruining the intro's. I wonder if all the snippets that are shown in the intro will be in coming episodes.
Does anyone enjoy reading the banners or do they just get in the way?
One reason the picture looks soft, I guess, is that these were originally broadcast in 4:3 ratio and they've been blown to 16:9. Fine for long shots but when there are close ups like last week episode with Johnny Rotten, the top of his head gets chopped off!

Was watching the third programme of this series focusing on guitar heroes. Looking at the clips of free on 'doing their thing' & oasis on 'something for the weekend' I'd like to know their original transmission dates. I think I first saw doing their thing on Granada plus in 1997 with another group performing & was 'something for the weekend' made by LWT or carlton & nationally networked? I don't remembered this at all.

I was very pleased to see they had dipped into the Granada TV archives of the pop show 45 from 1975 and featured Dr feel good ,I know that a lot of 45 have been wiped but the remaining 15 shows still have some good performances on such as the drifters, three degrees ,hot chocolate,Lindisfarne, showaddywaddy,Leo sayer, the hollies splinter etc etc its such a shame they have never been seen since first shown forty years ago.

seeing chris rea on 'alright now' on last week's pop gold, was tyne tees' short lived 1979 music show with den haggerty of 'darts' only shown on tyne tees or was shown on other ITV regions too?

I have a recollection of seeing the show at the time and I live in the Granada Manchester region.

Does anyone outhere when the final 2 editions of 'pop gold' would be scheduled on ITV sometime in 2015? One of them will be a second part of the 70s.

Just downloaded the new tv & satellite week that pop gold is returning next Wednesday. I hope ITV will not show a change of programme in its place next week at the last minute

Show 7 is on 22nd & show 8 on the 29th. (Main ITV channel) However i've been informed that due to some negative feedback and poor ratings a few ITV regions have now dropped the show and it's return for a 2nd series is in doubt.

I think a reason for poor ratings might be that ITV is not an obvious choice for a music programme (or anything substantial) nowadays? In fact I've not watched one complete episode of this, purely because I forgot to check the listings. And before anyone suggests it, advancing years may well be a contributory factor in this, but on the other hand I don't forget to check for upcoming things on BBC2, BBC4, C4 or even 4Music. It just doesn't even cross my mind that there might be anything interesting to see on ITV nowadays (apart from Judge Rinder, that is).

It is a "Not great" version of what the BBC does on BBC4, really. One or two great things per show, and maybe one episode that is more killer than filler. Trouble is, it will keep returning to the Matt Biancos rather than digging out more of the Crazy world of Arthur Browns..

There have been quite a few rare good performances, but the main problem is the sneary Steve Wright type comments by reet trendy Andy Kershaw, plus some awful cuts and captions that said, where ITV is concerned any music show is a bonus.
Why they would be worried by lowish viewing figures on a post news at ten show, what do they expect ?
I'd love to know how they justify showing 3 in a row repeats of Jeremy Kyle junk on a Saturday morning
Makes the days of CD UK look like a golden age of soo long ago.
By they way, I would love to know how the hell they get any kind of accurate viewing figures these days, I mean how can they possibly be a true reflection, what with people recording on numerous devices and streaming etc.
