Just heard on Radio Two that Demis Roussos is dead R.I.P. that's now 4 R.I.P. threads on this one page! this is a terrible period we're going through.

That's sad to hear, I really liked his 'prog rock' period with Vangelis in Aphrodite's Child which got overshadowed somewhat by his later solo career. RIP.

This sounds particularly poignant right now : Aphrodite's Child with "Break", which I recall being played a lot on Radio 1 when it was released in summer '72.
R.I.P. Demis.

Some of the Aphrodite's Child stuff is superb www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi8G7VIldoII love When Forever Has Gone too - I know it's not 'cool' but the track is so ridiculously over-the-top it's magnificent. Though I must confess I knew that & Forever and Ever more for being part of Bionic Santa when I was younger

Aphrodite's Child very good. They've just played 'The Four Horsemen' on 6Music.
His solo hits of the 70s (he was huge in popularity as well as size in 1976) are much more aimed at the housewife and light entertainment audience. Yet they feel like being from the same 'family' as Aphrodite's Child, in which group Demis came across as being a very cool part of the period, as the above video of 'Horsemen' shows.
RIP Demis.
