I recall James Insell saying there was some unused footage of Terror of the Zygons from the last ep featuring the Brig etc from the lake. Was this not possible to restore onto the release for any reason?
Thanks

I'm not aware that there's any existing footage from Episode 4 at all, Leighton - used or unused.
There's the opening TARDIS scene that was returned by the family of film editor Ian McKendrick plus the film inserts for Episodes 1-3 that are in a private collection.

Hi Richard,
James replied to a post on a very popular Facebook missing eps group. I wondered if anyone on here had either seen it or recall it as he refers to the lake seqwuence in ep 4. Does James Insell ever post on here.

Hi Leighton,
Had a slight brain-phase there! The private collector has the film inserts for Episodes 2-4, not 1-3, so of course there's material for the final episode.
Having spoken to James, his memory comes from seeing the insert reel when the story was being prepped for it's planned but unfulfilled transmission on BBC2 in 2000. I asked Steve Roberts about this and the inserts were indeed retransferred for the DVD and they did specially look for anything unused that might be interesting as an extra, but there wasn't really anything there. Principally, there were just a few background plates of the Thames onto which the Skarasen would have been superimposed. There certainly weren't any missing scenes or any action - plus the footage is missing its accompanying sepmag, so any material would have been mute anyway.

Thanks Richard
His reply seemed to suggest there was something that could have been used.
Thanks for clarifying it
Leighton
