Hi David
Thank you for posting this clip
It was more enjoyable to watch and listen to than I thought it would be...
I would need to listen to the lyrics more attentively next time; but I certainly thought the melody was very good, the film clip was very enjoyable, they certainly did'nt take themselves all that seriously, the only thing I did'nt really like was when the song suddenly goes a bit weird, but fair play it does come back to it's initial melody...but all in all 6 out of 10 maybe?
By the way do you have more information on Bill and Buster? who are they? I've never heard of them before

I've loved this song for quite some time.. even the psychadelic freak-out in the middle. MY he can dance, can't he? The production and harmonies are what really attracted me, though. this may shock the hell out of some of you, but this duo is made up two people who have had hits before this. The guy on the right, Buster.... was a member of Unit 4+2 (Concrete And Clay) and Bill (On the left) was none other than Whistling Jack Smith!

Jings,Crivens,Help Ma Boab! Thanks for that information David... "Whistling Jack Smith" I've been whistling "I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman" for b****y years I love it! Actually I'm a pretty good whistler,I could give Roger Whittaker a run for his money!

Billy Moeller used to be a roadie for Unit 4 + 2, and his brother was in the band - is that Buster? His dancing is truly a wonder to behold, he also has some great moves in the Kaiser Bill video.

I didn't know about the roadie thing. Billy Moeller is brother of Tommy Moeller, who was lead singer in Unit 4+2, and his bandmate, was Buster Miekle (the blond one). I agree... Billy's dancing is a wonder to behold.

Well, I'll be damned, there's another clip from Disco 71. And it's got the instrumental break edited out. Bummer, I was looking forward to see what kind of dance he'd do in that studio.

This is the full Disco 71 episode www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXEK74DOBsY. The full introduction to the song, starting at about 26:40, makes reference to I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman. They also feature briefly in the London Pop News section at around 31:45.

Apparently Bill (Whistling Jack Smith) was just the 'face' for promotions and TV appearances. It's not actually him on the record - the melody was performed by a session whistler! Come back Milli Vanilli, you weren't that bad..

Yes, I seem to recall it was a Don Arden project?
