I'm just wondering if there is away to obtain the soundtrack to SHERLOCK HOLMES (1965) THE ABBEY GRANGE and THE BRUCE PARTINGTON PLANS. Is there any traces of more episodes of the 1968 series. Has any done any recons for the 1968 series.

Have you asked the BFI? Supposing you have a good reason for asking, they might be able to offer the material for on-site viewing?
Didn't KAL have plans to offer "audio-onlies" to the national library so they'd be accessible there? What became of the idea, does anyone know?

Thank you for the reply. I don't know KAL. The Wikipedia says that most of the episodes are still missing. I'm getting to hate THE BBC for wiping TV HISTORY. I hope PHIL MORRIS finds more tv episodes.

Kaleidoscope have been returning audios to the British Library for many years now. Charles Norton has all the details.
Thanks

Ah so there you have it. You can go to the British Library or possibly the British Film Institute and see/hear the remains of them there.
On the bright side, the other episodes of that series still exist. It's very easy to sit behind the computer and complain, but few people actually get into action, Phil Morris being the most extreme(ly succesful) example. But even closer to home one could try to search for off-air audio recordings. Given SH's lasting popularity, there must have been many people who taped the audio of the episodes that are now missing. There were several Sherlock Holmes fanclubs.
As for seeing the unreleased episodes: I don't mean the OP, but in general, the internet makes us lazy. If it can't be seen, downloaded, or at least ordered online, most people will give up. Granted, you have to be near the BFI (or its affiliates) in order to use their facilities. But given time, it's possible. I combine archive visits with my holidays myself.

Is there any traces of more episodes of the 1968 series. Has any done any recons for the 1968 series. I'm aware that a handful of reel-to-reel audio recordings of some of the 1968 Cushing episodes were handed in around the time of the initial BBC 'Special Interests' release of The Hound of the Baskervilles (circa 2002). I do know that one of these was the existing episode 'The Boscombe Valley Mystery'. No other info on what the others were unfortunately, or whether they were even playable.

6 out of 18 episodes exist of Peter Cushing's Sherlock Holmes. Instead I'm watching JEREMY BRENT episodes as fill-ins. For THE BLACK PETER EPISODE I will listen to the audio book recording. Would be neat if BIG FINISH would do the missing episodes like they did with SEASON 1 OF THE AVENGERS.

Oh, when I said "the other episodes exist" I was just talking about the first series.
I can't immediately find any audio-only in the British Library, though.

Has any done any recons for the 1968 series. There will be a new DVD set coming out that will include those 2 incomplete episodes, assisted by the audio. One of those audio tracks is already on youtube, by the way. Another funny thing I saw on youtube was that the (West-)German television had remade the BBC series in 1967/8, so there are a few very similar looking German versions of that. One of those is also on youtube, on the same account as the audio.
