Are the Dr. Who-related programme from BBV regarded as genuine Dr. Who? The Beeb had a word when the characterisations got a bit close the BBC Dr. Who characters. And do the BBV programmes exist in any archives? They are no longer available commercially. Ref: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBV

They're genuine Doctor Who if you want them to be. BBV made Who-related stuff from the 90's onwards. It all still exists(and also look out for the Reeltime stuff).
Basically it falls into two main categories:Doctor Who-related stories that don't feature the Doctor himself. So, as an example, BBV acquired the rights to the Autons, and made stories featuring them. Or as another example BBV acquired the rights to the Liz Shaw character and made stories featuring her. Do you consider Doctorless Dalek stories or Doctorless Sarah Jane Smith stories to be genuine Doctor Who?
Things got trickier with BBV audios featuring Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred as two characters who call each other 'Professor' and 'Ace' and travel in time together. Here BBV did not acquire the rights to use the Seventh Doctor and Ace. They never use the words 'Doctor', 'TARDIS', 'Time Lords' etc. but it's clear who they are supposed to be.
All BBV material definitely survives to this day, but it is hard to find some of it.
