I likes that Capaldi reminded me a little bit of Pertwee and even more of Hartnell. What was very surprising was that his little flourishes that initially set apart each Doctor all reminded me most of Peter Cushing and his delivery reminded me of what I have heard of Trevor Martin. As for the story, well, it was OK.
There was a preview last week on NPR for the premiere. I wonder how many kds who watch it now has parents who laughed at Doctor Who fans like me when they were their kids' ages.

Masterplan 12 is one episode I ache to see. I missed it because of children's Christmas party. I briefly saw the last few moments as the Doctor and Stephen saw dust sweeping across Kembel.... A teasingly brief glimpse. Of the missing episodes I did see Power of the Daleks 1 was seen through pain and tears at losing Hartnell it was difficult to watch subjectively. THEY had ruined my favorite program! (I was 13) Fortunately Troughton soon won me over and proved what a brilliant actor he was. Lesson I learnt - never judge a Doctor by his first episode.

Works kiddies Christmas parties were frequently at that time, or even into February, in my experience : my employer kept the Christmas decorations up in the works canteen until the party had happened, which was always pretty odd.

Doctor Who Returns! Well, ever the optimist I was hoping for a big announcement about missing Who episodes to accompany the start of the new season. But alas no. Failing that I was hoping an announcement about the release of a Dvd of "The Underwater Menace." But alas no. If there a missing episodes out there that have been found then a good publicity opportunity has been lost. I have watched Doctor Who since 1963 and continue to watch it. I have missed episodes but thanks to Dvd I have managed see every episode bar 11 and the longer time goes on it looks as if I will never see them. Those 11 are: 1. Marco Polo 3 2. Masterplan 8, 10, 12 3. The Massacre 1 4. The Savages 4 5. Fury from the Deep 1, 5 6. Space Wheel 3, 5 I fell asleep during "The Underwarer Menace" 2 so the Dvd would be nice. That's old Hartnell/Troughton Who,........ and Peter Capaldi.........not a disappointment as the Doctor but the story was a bit rambling. Time will tell. At least I didn't cry. I did at the loss of Hartnell during Power of the Daleks 1. I think the time has come to forget about any big missing episode announcement and move on. The rumoured finder of many episodes seems to crave attention and is spinning things out. The best thing we can do is to ignore him completely. If I was the BBC, I would announce and release any missing episodes that have not been located by the rumoured finder and damn the consequences - even if it meant other episodes were never returned.

Some of what has been published in recent days by interested parties via their Twitter account and Facebook Group pages does not offer much encouragement as to their motivation towards breaking news soon or that all is well behind the scenes. All of which is not helping my efforts to force myself to go cold turkey and abstain from other forums and to bide my time. I still try to practise the mantra that I waited over 40 years to see most of Web so what's a few more months or years?

If what is being reported on these sites is indeed genuine then it appears theres a few of us on here, that were suspicious from day1 on motives and the vile things that Ian Levine was called by some, appear to have been vindicated. It was a worrying facebook posting and the grammar was atrocious so Im keeping an open mind on whether it was genuine or not, and Im hoping it isnt because otherwise, we've all....ALL, including all his sychophantic little followers, have been well and truly had.

You don't mean to say anything vile said about Ian Levine was vindicated do you Steve? Perhaps you'd like to make that clear for everyone. Emotions are running unnecessarily high elsewhere and I prefer the tranquil idyls of this Forum for discussing matters ME related.

Thankyou Peter for that, spot on. Im certainly not justifying myself to Simon or anyone else come to that. That is my opinion , just like Simon has his and I havent asked him to justify any of the things he writes. I have always been suspicious of a lot of things around this ME circus, as have others, which if anyone reads my old postings will notice. Ian Levine is a polarising character, and often shoots himself in the foot all by himself, but there was a point on these boards and others, where awfull things were being said,...and the very public bickering between himself and Philip, were their own doing.
