Almost no complete editions of 'Match Of The Day' are kept on colour digibeta until the mid-1970s. All that remains on colour VT are the goals, and not even all of those, unfortunately, due to the occasional 'finger trouble' which meant that the odd one was missed out during dubbing. However, I understand that exists in full from the 1969-75 era on monochrome film, which is why occasionally clips of the early Jimmy Hill era crop up in black-and-white. I don't happen to know whether or not any of this film might have chroma-dots down its side, so maybe a future colour recovery might be possible?

Humble pie alert: I write criticising others of 'finger trouble', then make a complete mess of sentence construction. What I meant to write was 'I understand that the complete original programmes exist in full from 1969 - 75 on monochrome film'. Apologies.

Easy enough to make everything perfect by clicking on 'edit post'.I do it all the tine,
