Strange hearing the speaker referring to "a bag of chips". Wouldn't it be "box of fries" for an American? I've just been watching Rawhide,where they've been transporting thousands of head of cattle across the plains,with the only source of fuel dried buffalo chips.You have to careful when you go shopping! Totally O/T,but did I giggle when one of the cowboys accused another of having a chip on his shoulder...

There's not even anything special about that! It just was the first American voice. Someone else had already made a similar recording 20 years earlier and that was "played back" succesfully 4 years before this one. See my earlier link about the phonautograph, and the link in your link.
