Whenever I visit any link I get this message:
Hope they get this fixed soon!

All I get is a dark screen with some ads! I was just looking at the Loose Cannon site on Thursday with no problems, and now this. Might there be something up besides a site renewal?

Looks like a domain parking service to me... usually you get a grace period to re-register a domain but it seems the registrar is trying to make a few quid before they renew it

The last time the LC site was updated was in 2010 with the last "new release" mentioned being a revised version of The Faceless Ones (LC32) that came out 5 years ago! Since then they have released another 7 recons that I'm aware of. Of course the site has been indexed in full by archive.org so those of you who still use it as a reference guide can view it here: web.archive.org/web/20140506194813/http://recons.com/default.htm

Actually... why does the expiration date list next year...? I didn't see that text when I first looked at the page earlier. Now I can see it - it's in black type against a very dark grey background ( at least that is how it displays on my iPad). 2015 - very strange.

There can be domain fees and hosting fees. It's possible that the domain name has not expired but the site that was hosting the web page has

I just find it odd that the host server's time is 365 days out!

A client of the company I worked for forgot to renew their domain a few years ago. Someone had an auto-buy on it, so within five minutes of it expiring, they lost their name, website, email... it all became an advertising "holding" portal.
Because they'd let it expire, there was nothing they could do other than try and buy the domain back from the cybersquatters for about $3K. (Yes, they could have taken it to ICANN, but it would have taken a very long time).
Not saying that's what's happened here - I haven't investigated enough to make a judgement (and without konowing the previous DNS settings I couldn't tell for sure anyway). But it's a possibility.

Any news regarding the renewal? I've watched bits and pieces of the LC recons and I've been interested in getting a couple for ages. I've tinkered with recons myself (easier ones like The Moonbase, Macra Terror and Wheel in Space - they have telesnaps ) and it would be intriguing to see how they achieved epic stories like The Dalek's Masterplan and The Massacre without telesnaps (it took them more than a year to make The Massacre, didn't it?). I know their all available online but I'd prefer direct, best quality copies from the source.

Actually... why does the expiration date list next year...? The reason for this is that the current registrar does this to gauge the popularity of the domain via hits to the holding page, it will then usually go up for auction if its a popular domain. Another reason a year is added to the expiry date is to give the owner a chance to get the domain back. It also helps prevent people pre-ordering the domain as soon as it becomes available. Working in the domain industry this does cause huge confusion for customers. However the domain is pending delete and will be available soon to re-register.

Rick Brindell just joined the FB "Doctor Who Missing Episodes Discussion Group" and in reply to Brad's question about what has happened to the Loose Cannon website, Rick replied that We let the web site go down, no more dubbing . . . All good things....and all that. h
