Of course,in the 60s,if you missed episodes because you were working,or you mum wouldn't let you watch, that was it.No picking up a video or DVD later to play over and over again... I know - if only they'd invented VCRs 20 years earlier. (though there'll be some sort of fallacy in that statement too :-) ) Richard

However - if I claimed to have found a mushy Pertwee ep - pretty sure I'd be expected to answer questions. Not being rude, but, why exactly? I perhaps should have phrased it as ....- pretty sure I would expect to be asked questions. This whole Q & A raises more questions than it answers. If one Pertwee episode was found - surely there could have been more? Why mention it unless you reveal all the details?

If one Pertwee episode was found - surely there could have been more? Why mention it unless you reveal all the details? My hunch, and it is only a hunch mind, would be that there might still be ongoing investigations and releasing very detailed information could hinder those. Wasn't there a flux of people contacting Nigerian TV stations a little while back making demands or was that just internet exaggeration? Not certain. My general feeling on it is that it probably should be taken at face value; it was probably just a dissolved and unplayable print of a Pertwee which we already have. To be honest, I expect a book will be written on the subject by Mr Morris or friends at some point about the entire story from start to finish. I shall wait until then for the minutiae of the affair That's just my take on it all.

I just took it as he found a lone film print of an already existing episode and it wasn't in a viable state. EDIT: Ok, looking back at the original quote: He found a handful of episodes that weren't viable, and the only one he could recognise was Ambassadors 2. Yes it doesn't negate the possibility he found something missing along with the existing but he's hardly likely to spill the beans on a Facebook page.

That's what I don't understand - if there is an ongoing investigation - why even mention it? Is there or isn't there a problem with speculation and rumour? It seems - across most of the forums (including this one) that speculation and rumour are immediately jumped upon - berated and erased - yet legitimate questions are sidelined or ignored. As I said the Q&A raised more questions (for me) than answered them which can only lead to further speculation and rumour. It seems like lots of people are having their cake and devouring it.

I think the problem isn't so much with speculation, more the strange reactions some fans have to evidence free rumours and speculation thereon (less so on this forum, thankfully). I have seen some fairly strange and violent reactions and some amazingly strong statements since all of this began which I find a bit weird. I seem to recall threats have even been made. This could well be the reason for a certain coolness in attitude towards some varieties of speculation and rumour propagation. Rumour is something that has been endemic in doctor who fandom since as far back as I can remember in the 80s. I have been told all sorts of things over the years, exactly none of which have and any foundation. Recently I have heard a rumour for pretty much every episode of who having been returned from somewhere - great if it happens, but I shan't be holding my breath. If anything else is back we will find out for sure when there is an official anouncement. That's pretty much all really! I expect Morris was just giving a harmless anecdote to the fans in all honesty None of this is really directed personally at anyone btw, more just a general statement on the situation

I would have given a few sarcastic quotes, or what he has done, a few the wind is blowing ones lol. He has been rather restrained in all fairness ! If it takes a while, so be it ! Trouble is, he cant say much if they are back without giving the game away ! Totally Agree Greg H.

Some of us are old enough to remember the original transmissions! You are so lucky. I so envy people who can claim this. I had an old classmate who could remember the initial transmissions of "The Evil of the Daleks," among others. I loved listening to him wax eloquent about kids imitating Daleks playing Trains at school. I am one of those fortunate rascals who can remember Evil of The Daleks! I remember the Daleks moving back and through the wooden doors with a thud and the good Daleks carrying Patrick Troughton around for a ride with their silly dizzy Doctor sayings! Magic memories indeed!
