These days I love the cliffhangers, Shelly, but not as a little six year old! LoL Moffat has ruined the show and it's too late to change that! poor old Matt Smith whom I've always thought had the eccentricity to be fantastic in the role but was saddled with rubbish material! One thing I've never understood is the people who defend him and his writing it really beats me! A producer should not write ! Too much power as well. His scripts and delivery are bad ! There are no cliff hangers now lol. Well, not often ! And Smith was dealt a load of tosh most times. Im not that hopeful about Capaldi either ! And as long as this continues we will slowly see the ruination of a giant

Please keep the New Doctor Who series bashing to a minimum on this thread. I understand that some people are not fans of Stephan Moffat however please be considerate of the fans who indeed do like Mr. Moffats writing. It's all one big show just written to suit a 21st century audience. I doubt you would like it if I started criticising the 1960s era. If you don't like don't watch but don't spoil it for people who are fans of the new series.
Thank you.

I do like some new Who gentlemen! Dalek, The Impossible Planet, Utopia and from Moffat's reign, The Doctor's Wife with it's overtones of The Brain of Morbius!

Thanks, Shelly! Glad we think along the same lines and appreciate the good stories! There are only a few i like from the moff era ! Though RTD is more to my liking. This series line up looks good, but the arcing theme seems to be the norm now which is tiresome now !

There were some arcs in the original series, like Key to Time (not my favourite) or The Time Lord Trial (passable if only for The Valeyard) and The Nerva trilogy! But yes the arc theme only works when the stories are good!

Used not that often is better.

TOATL was a hard slog for us back in 86 which I think was worth it when we found out that The Valeyard was really a future incarnation of The Doctor (as it was written to be) before he became an alternate incarnation, or a projection, or a future possible avatar Etc. Shame we couldn't have seen it as Robert holmes originally envisaged with The Doctor meeting his final self! Would have prevented Moffat ruining The Doctor's timeline last year wouldn't it!
