I meant to add 'Discotheque' from Granada TV to the list. Also 1968. Peeing against the proverbial I know.

You can't be a member of the Kaleidoscope f/b forum then Thomas? It was announced on 9th January that the audio of Simon Dupree and The Big Sound from The Record Star Show has been found. I'm not aware of anything from Discotheque surviving unfortunately.

That looks like a strong line-up for the show there. A shame it doesn't exist! The same goes for All Systems Freeman, unfortunately. There's a huge gap in Crackerjack from 1964 virtually through to about 1974-ish. So it means that the whole era with Rod MacLennan as host is not represented at all in the archives (not to mention a lot of music guest acts which appeared in the late '60s / early '70s).

The TV critic John Gibson of the Edinburgh Evening News hated the show
he mentioned the following in the 30/3/68 edition
The Flowerpot Men murdered "Let's Go to San Francisco"
DDDBM&T decimated "Legend of Xanadu"
The Easybeats toiled with "Hello How Are You"
he did'nt hold back on his loathing of the show, saying he was thoroughly disgusted with the pop scene when it was all over and that "this circus should never have been allowed within a mile of a TV camera"
Oh dear!

It seems unbelievable that the shows that preceded this show survive (N.M.E. awards)and that this later show has been junked in the early seventies. Any Possibly clips of the show were sold to a European broadcaster Attachments:
