A bit of a different view I guess but I quite liked the way Eccleston played the role, I found the last two over acted and hammed it up too much for my taste & gave up on the reboot as a result. Each to their own I guess. I rate Eccleston pretty highly as an actor and I think he did the best he could with the material given, which was imo dross. The less said about Tennant, the fewer people I will offend, but I really didn't like his portrayal of the doctor. (wasn't that diplomatically phrased folks?) Matt Smith strikes me as good egg, but I still don't go wild for the material he is given. I gave up on the show a little while back and I doubt if anything shall persuade me to start watching it again. I am honestly left scratching my head as to why it is so popular, it just isn't very good; even if there had been no classic series of who and the new series had come completely out of the blue I would still be of the opinion that it is pretty weak................................... Watching pretty much any episode of new who back to back with nearly anything from the first 4 or 5 doctors shows just how poor it is really.

Thanks for your reply, Victoria and I'm glad to see you are a fan of the new show. There is no such thing as the straight agenda I hate to tell you. I'm not saying anything anti gay believe me,my uncle was gay bless him, RIP. The show has always had a political agenda, that's true! Peladon was the miners and our entry into the EU back in the 70s whilst other stories might be rip off's of famous masterpieces, Robot-King Kong,Deadly Assassin-Manchurian Candidate etc. Get your coat? I think I'll join you!

I agree with most of what you said, Greg, although I didn't mind Tennant as The Doctor despite certain annoying mannerisms he had! Matt was a great Doctor and could have been much better if he had been given a decent script to act out! The Doctor's Wife being his best I'd say! I still watch the show but no longer look forward to it like I did as a youngster and I doubt it's because I'm just an old git now more to do with hacks and unexciting stories!
