From what I have read on both source/finds they are indeed, plus the original collector of the Roman's episode had been dead for ten years while film collector Terry Burnett was at the screening today in London.

Ironic that so much effort to check tv vaults abroad and 2 eps are in Hampshire. What a lovely man Terry is, we chatted quite a bit today and as a fan I explained the full significance of what he has done to fandom and the search for missing tv in general. He seemed humbled and he is now going to go through his old contacts list just in case he can give us some other leads. heres hoping By the way, both prints were in pretty good condition and how lovely to see Troughton play the recorder!

Hi all,
I know you now all know what we've been keeping from you for months. I'm afraid we had the 'Galaxy 4' film returned to us at the end of July and 'Underwater Menace' on September 19th.
We decided quite early on, that the best place to announce 'Galaxy 4' was at Missing Believed Wiped, because there's nothing more annoying that announcing something and then not be able to see it for months. As most people on this forum should be attending MBW, I thought you wouldn't mind. So we had a 30 minute slot for Project T.
Then Terry the film collector found another film and we realised that this would be slightly more of a restoration job. I contacted the National Archives of Australia who have known about the discovery from the start and we put into motion the re-scanning of the censor clips so we could reinstate them.
When we did finally watch the episode (which we called Project Horsey), we felt anyone else watching it would reassess their view of the story, so we elected to screen that episode in an enhanced slot at MBW, plus a short 5' 30" extract of Galaxy 4.
Sorry we couldn't say anything. It was very difficult towards the end to keep it off the forums.
Enjoy,
Paul

I think another missing believed wiped/treasure hunt appeal is needed,it was 2001 when the bbc last did this.
When i speak to family and friends they seem to assume that archives(dw totp etc)are complete,if they ever moved house and found some old cannisters of film in the loft or shed they would'nt think twice about throwing straight in the bin!
Anyone old enough to have worked in tv during the 60's and had some of these missing episodes could have passed away by now,or when they do, those films could easily get thrown away because people dont know how valuable they are.

I agree, this is a topic that should not grow old. in fact every year they should do something to get the message out.

woooo hooooooo
I was right ! there were " more out there.... somewhere "
and overjoyed that they are two episodes i actually saw as well, heres hoping one of them generates some much needed love for the much underated "underwater menace" and fingers crossed that my childhood memory of the Rills going up the arched ramps repairing their ship is in episode 3 and not episode 4
yay....

were glad they are back and hopefully the timing will create some much needed publicity for the return of more episodes. are you in the position to say if there are any other known potential leeds in the works?

Of Course, All is Forgiven!! This is the best news I could have hoped for. I thought the sci-fi surprise was the Sky At Night episode from 1963. Am very pleased to see I was mistaken here. That is great, in like the 35mm footage from Day of Armageddon, the censor clips for Underwater can be reinstated-reinserted.
I hope no one will mind my bringing to attention that two clips from the two recovered episodes have been placed on YT. Looked to have been sourced from BBC1? Not exactly shure if anything specific has gone to broadcast there? Congratulations in discovering the earliest complete Troughton episode (My favorite doctor, cannot wait to see this in particular) as well!!

What a great year for Sci-Fi fans, Sky At Night and two Doctor Who episode recoveries!!! Words barely contain my enthusiasm!
Excellent work, am shure this material will somehow make its way onto perspective DVD releases. This has been a golden year, with the Jean Jeanie TOTP 73' 2in Quad clip find as well as the other reels left to view! This just keeps getting better and better!!
My congratulations, and a job well done to all involved here. I am shure again everyone will fully understand the ban of silence!
Cheers, Lance.

That's quite right, the print from The Romans and these two now! As you know Neil, I always had your back in believing, and supporting your statement that there are "more out there somewhere"( Nice quote from the documentary by the way )
Just makes you wonder as to what else may be out there, waiting in the woodwork!! If three episodes can come to light in one year ( granted has been some time since DMP:2 was recovered ) that anything is possible.
Liked your reaction Greg H, likewise was literally jaw droopingly at a loss for words at hearing, then seeing this!!! Along with the Jean Jeanie TOTP clip from 73' on 2in Quad VT, and the Sky At Night, this has indeed been a golden year for fans of classic British Sci-Fi, and Classic TV in general. My congratulations to all involved here. And very interested to hear that these were supposed EX-ABC prints. Makes you wonder if the censor cuts were removed from this very print ( Underwater Menace: 2 ) ? Interested to hear as well that they were to be rescanned in HD to provide a better approximation in contrast on the returned print. Rather in the way that the existing 35mm Insert of the Daleks burning the jungle on Kembel was reinserted into the recovered episode ( being of superior quality ).
My most sincere thanks, and congratulations to all involved here. Keep up the good work! I would hope that this might spur a new Treasure Hunt-Esq endeavor to be at the least considered in respect here? You would think right? We can only hope......
Cheers, Lance.

Yes, on this occasion I am very happy to be proved wrong.
The BBC, on the other hand... Tut, tut, tut... Typical! They can't even be trusted to destroy a couple of films properly...

As long as the information is accurate and confirmed, that is all that matters. This is the proper way to announce a find because I don't know of any Doctor Who fan that is going to be disappointed by the return of two lost episodes. From previous experience there's nothing more annoying than that Web of Fear debacle with DWO a few years ago. DWO announced something that set the Internet on fire without having accurate information or confirmation, and that turned ugly.
