 Joni Mitchell Sounds on Saturday.
« Thread Started on Aug 8, 2012, 7:13pm »

The audio of 'Joni Mitchell Sounds on Saturday' 10/6/1972 is around online, often under the recording date of 19/5/1972.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1y8p-_CXng

It's listed as missing, but I wondered if the audio has been archived?

Not sure. I'll add this to the list of audio finds John, didn't know about it.

One site is offering an 11-track download, while others say they also have extra tracks from the recording.(Though not, perhaps, from the broadcast?).

May be an audience taping? Do you know how long in minutes the recording purports to be?

I see it's described on one site as "Joni Mitchell Live at the BBC 19/5/1972 (ex BBC)",
Pity I can't give the link!

This is-it says-BBC2 5/19/1972 Sounds on Saturday.FM broadcast Radio London 6/19/1972.

Does that make any sense?

Some TV recordings were broadcast by local BBC stations. That'll be the BBC station, not the pirate one. BBC started 1970....

Nice one.
If you google "Joni Mitchell Radio London 1972" it should be the second or third item listed.

The BBC sometimes use to transmit a simultaneous television concert with stereo sound on FM radio, so that you could watch the concert on telly and listen via your big Hi Fi speakers - of course long before digital and its pesky delays.

Peter,I was looking at this thread earlier, and the simultaneous broadcasts seem to have been 'Sight and Sound In Concert.'

http://missingepisodes.proboards.com/ind....int&thread=2747

It would be nice to find out how many of the 'In Concert' shows were broadcast on Radio London (and elsewhere?),and how many are retained. The Joni Mitchell radio broadcast seems to have been a while after the TV broadcast, which itself was not live...

Joni Mitchell, "Sounds For Saturday", BBC2, London, England, 19th May 1972 (Broadcast BBC2 10th June 1972, 9:25-10:10pm)

01 This Flight Tonight
02 Electricity
03 Big Yellow Taxi
04 Judgement Of The Moon And Stars (Ludwig's Tune)
05 See You Sometime
06 A Case Of You
07 Carey
08 You Turn Me On, I'm a Radio
09 For the Roses
10 Both Sides Now

There's also a version that includes 4 songs that don't belong (That Song About the Midway, The Gallery, The Priest, California), these are from Paris Theatre, London, 19th Oct 1970 (Radio 1, In Concert, broadcast 27 & 30 Dec 1970).

Put down any "Radio London" nonsense to bootleggers not having a clue, which is par for the course. As another example you'll more commonly find the Paris Theatre show mislabelled as Royal Albert Hall.

And I thought it was the Manchester Free Trade Hall that looked like the Albert Hall...
So this is the audio of 'Sounds for Saturday'? What's the sound quality like?

For the missing 3 tracks I found "Judgement Of The Moon And Stars" on youtube, and for the other two - further googling produced a very low quality .wma file of all 10 tracks.

I haven't actually downloaded the concert.I hate to admit it,but I wouldn't know how.
