Hi Chris,

the only programme with such a title that comes to my mind would be the ZDF TV-Show "4321 - Hot and Sweet" that was broadcast by the second german television channel between 1966 and 1970. This show had the subtitle "Musik für junge Leute" ("Music for young people"), even its follow up show "Disco", broadcast between 1971 and 1982 with host Ilja Richter, had that subtitle until 1973.

Unfortunately all episodes of "4321 - Hot and Sweet" seemed to have been wiped by ZDF at the start of the 70's, other sources say that the tapes may still be at the abandoned and uncatalogued Zentralarchiv ("central-archive") of the first and old ZDF Studios in Wiesbaden, Germany, after they had build a new studio center and moved to Mainz, Germany in 1984.

The first test colour transmission of a ZDF programme was broadcast on July, 3rd 1967, the regular transmission of ZDF in colour didn't start until August 25th, 1967, so maybe the recording of Pink Floyd was a planed colour transmission for the then new programme.

Regards,

Oliver.

Thanks for the fascinating info, Oliver. This is all stuff I'd never heard about before.

Let's hope that the "Zentralarchiv" at Wiesbaden is catalogued eventually and more gems are to be found there!

Much thanks for that Oliver! Fascinating info. Almost sounds like a precursor to Colour Me Pop...

"4321 - Hot and Sweet" was kind of a show for young pop-fans and it later developed into "Disco". The host "Ilja Richter" quite often showed videos or films of bands if they were not able to be in the studio and he always introduced them with the count-in "4321 - Hot and Sweet"!! ZDF even showed some material of other stations, like BBC's TOTP and in the first episode of "Disco '71' there was a short quiz in which they showed a small piece of film that was from the last episode of "4321 - Hot and Sweet", so in 1971 at least one episode fom 1970 still existed in the archive!

Love You till Tuesday was a promotional film designed to showcase the talents of David Bowie, made in 1969. The film was the latest attempt by his manager, Kenneth Pitt, to bring Bowie to a wider audience. Pitt had undertaken the film after a suggestion by Gunther Schnedier, producer of German TV show '4-3-2-1 Musik Für Junge Leute' for the ZDF network. Pitt hired his friend Malcolm J Thomson to direct the half-hour film, which showcased seven of Bowie's songs (four from his debut album, plus new compositions "When I'm Five" and "Ching-a-Ling". It would also include a mime piece, "The Mask". Before shooting started on 26 January 1969, Bowie added another new song to the planned film - "Space Oddity". His girlfriend at the time, Hermione Farthingale, and his friend John Hutchinson also performed in the movie. Bowie himself wore a wig throughout the shoot, having cut his hair to army regulation length to audition for the film of 'The Virgin Soldiers'. German language versions of three songs, and the narration for the mime sequence, were also recorded. Filming was finished by February 7, 1969.

Tyrannosaurus Rex appeared twice - firstly 14.09.68, then 03.12.68. They shared management with the Floyd at the time so it makes sense. Both wiped and it's unknown what they performed.
