£20k is a lot of money. Particularly if the footage is silent.
(Personally I think £20k would be better spent on employing me for a year finding footage! Perhaps I shouldn't say that, but....sod it.)

After looking through the indiegogo site, it's still not clear exactly what is being offered, and what material Adrian Everett has - and crucially, whether the soundtrack will be the actual live recording at the festival or post-synced from other recorded performances. The festival line-up looks incredible though !

Someone on the Bowie thread says 'The sound is synced from contemporary tapes and by all accounts is quite amazing'.

I'd like to see a few more 'hard facts' about the film & its' soundtrack before I handed over any cash. Like what do they physically have (super-8 film, 16mm film, audio of some sort), who actually owns the copyright, do they have permission to issue it, etc etc.

It seems as though this will be publicly shown very soon :
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entert....om-8466113.html
"'Atomic Sunrise' is screened at the Roundhouse, London NW1 (0844 482 8008; roundhouse.org.uk) 11 & 12 March"
Slightly buried in the article is this quote : "[...] a chance encounter put him in touch with the original sound man at the gig, who helped him put music to the silent film footage [...]" - a bit ambiguous, but it does seem to say that the original soundtrack hasn't been found.
Adrian Everett says in the article that he still doesn't know who originally organised the filming of the concerts, and that he has 33 hours (!) of film, which were being held by the lab against unpaid processing costs.
Anyone going to see this ?

I just hope the final results and release doesn't get scuppered by Bowie, Hawkwind and Genesis and their managers throwing legal weights around. Otherwise, would be fascinating to finally see this. It certainly does capture those acts at pivotal moments in their careers made all the more vital by the lack of footage from 1970 of each of them.
Sad to learn the BBC declined to get involved with this project given they did get involved with the Isle of Wight 1970 film enabling that to be completed and shown in the mid 90's.

I'm not going myself but will be interested to see the film finally. So I'm hoping that the DVD release mentioned in the article happens. Important footage that should be accessible!

Nice short clip of "Memory of a Free Festival", from the Space Oddity album which also featured "Cygnet Committee".
And only 2 years after The "Laughing Gnome."

Was searching for some kind of feedback from anyone who went to the recent screenings, as this whole project has vaguely intrigued me for a while now (would probably have gone along myself if they'd been a bit more clearer upfront about what they were actually screening...) Anyway I did find this second-hand report from someone who went:
http://www.genesis-news.com/news-Genesis....ening-n337.html
Seems like it's good news and bad news. The good news is that an hour of footage from the different acts was shown, some of which was even redone in HD. The bad news is that as with the YT clips it seems the footage was just synced to audio taken from other sources. Apparently the makers were asked about the original audio and gave contradictory answers about its status. It's this kind of evasiveness that puts me off donating to the project really; I get a general sense that they're trying to string people along by creating an impression they have more than they actually have, without actually saying so in as many words. The thing is this footage is important enough that even without the original audio it has some value. I'm sure plenty of people would still donate on that basis.

From the Genesis news site : "Questions about the soundtrack produced two unsatisfactory and not very consistent answers: The makers know who has the soundtrack, and/or as the video gets more exposure, the soundtrack will surface at some point."
This does seem to clear up one point - the makers do not currently have the soundtrack !
Whether it still exists anywhere is still ambiguous...

I doubt whether Tony Visconti (who was with the Hype), has it, but I will ask him.
