I know Victor Spinetti did some interview or commentary for the project in advance, meaning the DVD release. Just to recap, from the Bonzos, Neil, Rodney, Roger, Larry and Vernon are alive. It's Vivian who isn't. I will let Vivian's daughter Silky know about its' release (when it happens) and showing, although probably a few others will as well.

The appearance of this more or less confirms to appearance of the DVD/Bu ray?
Suppose we shall know soon...

I thought Freda Kelly didn't exist and was just a made-up name for the fan club secretary?

I think Freda was her real name- but two other fan club secretaries (names escape me) were definitely made up. I have it on good authority the DVD will be out before Xmas- but the query remains just what outtakes will be on it? I am dearly hoping the Nat Jackley swimming pool scene will make it - and the lunch in the function room sequence. Who knows though- and with Apple's track record, anything is possible! x

Christmas would be a good time; I still recall watching it when it was first broadcast,Boxing Day 1967.
45th anniversary this 26th December.

Yeah, I would be five at the time, and I remember thinking "That was good, can't wait for next week's episode"

Did the BBC have any involvement in making this film?

Nope, I thought it was an Apple production right from the start, they then got it onto the BBC once it had been finished.

I'm asking myself, if the BBC will broadcast the original movie in it's original format like they did with the other Beatles-Movies in the past when new versions were released on DVD, like they did for example with "Help!" in 2007 (original 4:3 aspect ratio)!?!

BTW, I was only a few days old, when it was screened for the first time in Germany in December 1967. ;)

The first time I ever saw it was on video when I was about 12 or 13 in very bad quality!!

Tell you what bugged me about the most recent Video release of "Help"...

Right at the end, where the Beatles are larking around on-mike during the closing credits, the original movie has George yell out "I Need You George Harrison!" when his song credit appeared on-screen.

However, when the VHS remaster was done, presumably the credits were re-put-together, and now it just seems that George yells that out apropos of nothing, and his credit appears on-screen about a minute later.

A small detail, I know...

Looks good, very much looking forward to this. McCartney commentary should be interesting
