That was Beep? (He's on my Facebook). He's also done backing vocals on a T Rex song done on a continental channel, think it was Hot Love. Still exists anyway, and he knows about it.

in response to your list Ray

ROLLING STONES – Not Fade Away (TOTP 4-3-64)
Only 34 seconds of it were shown on 'Sounds Of The 60's', I think that is all that survives of it unfortunately.

GENE PITNEY – That Girl Belongs To Yesterday (TOTP 11-3-64)
I always thought this Gene Pitney track was on the Bob Pratt tapes?

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall reading that The Hollies "Bus Stop" clip had been returned to the BBC. It's definitely out there somewhere in America and we've all seen it on YouTube but it was not at the BBC nor do I ever recall reading of it being returned to them. If so, could you point me to when that news was posted?

Bus Stop hasn't been returned. An upgraded version (very watchable, but not from film directly, prob 3rd or even 4th gen, but more like 2nd gen quality-wise), and most certainly broadcastable is in safe hands, (TRUST ME ON THIS) and will be returned to the BBC when safety copies are made.

The BBC (BBC Four) and our very own Laurence, are aware of this.

Thanks for clarifying that Ray. That is good news.

Additional info for you. There are at least two copies in safe hands. It's a little bit better than the youtube footage, prob from the same source (must be, actually). As far as I know, the owner of the film in the US, put it on youtube and deleted it shortly afterwards.

Luckily some people had uploaded it, and, moreover, at least one upgraded the definition of the footage. So the only copies that exist outside the US are on DVD, and 1 or 2 members of this Forum have a copy.

It's quite likely Kal have been offered a copy of the performance too.

Wunderbar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Note people's.....if you see anything on youtube you can possibly 'rip', and then tranfer putting it in so-called HD, do it, copy it, and send it to Kal. I don't own a computer, and the only thing I can rip is rip open bags of crisps.... You never know when these things will disappear for whatever reason.

Yes, I ripped it too the moment it first appeared, moments after I first watched it in shock and disbelief! I also redubbed it into stereo removing the brief sound glitch in the last verse of the song applying a neat crossfade at the end for the applause since it was mimed.

That sound glitch caused some fans to believe it might had been an alternate vocal take. I carefully studied it and proved it was identical to the mono single master and the glitch was thanks to a visual cut/splice some 16 frames or so before you heard the glitch.

What a great series this has been so far.
We've seen quite a few bits of rare footage from the vaults.

On show 1 we got
David Bowie - The Jean Genie (TOTP 1973)
Show 2
Steel Pulse - Prodigal Son (Look Hear 1978)
Show 3
America - Horse With No name (In Concert 1973)
Show 4
Bread - Make It With You (The Bread Special 1978)
Show 5
Nazareth - Bad Bad Boy (OGWT 1973)
Bad Company - Can't Get Enough (TOTP 1974)
Show 6
Aretha Franklin - Spirit In The Dark (It's Lulu 1970)
Billy Preston - All That I've Got (The Young Generation 1970)
Stylistics - You Make Me Feel Brand New (The Other Broadway 1978)
Show 7
Eruption - I Can't Stand The Rain (Disco In The Snow 1979)
Jacksons - Blame It On The Boogie (The Rainbow 1979)
Show 8
Max Bygraves impersonating Gary Glitter!
Alvin Stardust on Clunk Click (short clip only)
But last nights Show 9 beat them all.
We finally got two whole minutes of the infamous Nationwide appearance where The Sex Pistols play 'Anarchy In The UK' in the studio while a crowd of young punks including a blonde haired Siouxsie Sioux look on. But I do wish we could see the rest of it.
And has anyone ever heard of a show called 'Twndish'? I can't say I ever have but we got a fantastic 1978 performance of 'Oh Bondage Up Yours' by X-Ray Spex from that very show.

Thanks Ray, no wonder I'd never seen it before then.
Wonder what other performances Twndish featured?

Re Sex Pistols - just like to say thanks Ray, i don't know whether you had any influence over the showing of the Pistols clip last night but it was great to see in such good quality, i used to have a bootleg vhs of this clip, it was appalling quality. also the Twindish show - i know that Adam and the Ants appeared on this in 1979 and performed Zerox and were interviewed after, again i had this on VHS again in absolute crap quality.

Adam and the Ants did their first UK TV appearances on it, think audio is still around.

Re Twindish - sorry the ants song wasn't "Zerox" but "Family of noise" come to think of it they might have performed them both, so long ago!
