I've been looking at the excellent TVtome site for Beatclub.
The Beatles appeared a lot on film on the show. Is there any chance that they might be any Beatles footage from TOTP?
A long shot I know but interesting nevertheless!

TOTP did swap material with other tv shows on a regular basis, and I think some totp material has come from beat club. Was that Tom Jones Delilah clip from sounds of the sixties from beat club? at the start someone says "Und noon tom jones" if this is german for and now tom jones, there is a clip of waterloo sunset from beat club and Dave Lee Travis says und noon der Kinks so it could be. the tom jones clip has Mr Jones on a screen while an audience dances (on video) the performance on the screen is the same as the one shown on totp2 but without the audience does anyone know what this is?
just out of interest beat club in literal german is -Schlagverein- and top of the pops is -Oberseite der Knalle-

The Tom Jones clip comes from a zdf/bbc show called Sounds of the Sixties broadcast in December 69.
An edited version was repeated on UK Arena a few years ago.

It wasnt, it was "POP GO THE 60's"
thios was the show that they're all dancing on, and the Tom Jones clip on the screen is from a TOTP show, and the original performance does indeed survive
this is nothing to do with Beat Club as this show os presented by Elfie and Jimmy Saville

Unfortunately when 'Pop Go The Sixties' was repeated on BBC Choice a few years back, the Beatles clips were missing; Apple wouldn't give permission for their broadcast. Would've been nice to have the complete show.

Pete I may be wrong, but I believe in the 1969 transmission Dusty Springfield appearred - but not in subsequent re - screenings of the show. The show I think is logged at 75 mins running time but only lasts about 66 to 67 mins . Any ideas on this Pete, I do apologise if my wires are crossed. Alan Smith.

...another clip removed from the UK Arena repeat of Pop Goes The '60s was Marmalade (Ob La Di), which was itself taken from the 25/12/69 TOTP.

Pop Goes was 1 show made for both UK & ZDF viewers, the Tom Jones clip is B/W on Pop Goes with colour inserts of the crowd jigging along. This clip was used on Sounds of the Sixties with the colour faded to b/w, as the dancers & the reddish tint to the Delilah clip had lost all their colour! Presumably for continuity as the dancing insert would have looked a bit odd on Sounds with a colourful clip of '69 dollybirds!

right 1 show in colour thanks. the bbc must have "this" tom jones clip that was shown on the big screens because it was shown on totp2 a few months ago without the audience.

Yes, they do have it. It's from March 1968 and is listed on the database as such (very easy to look up - that's what it's there for!)

yes and an excellent database it is too I have used it a number of times:), I meant that specific clip used on the big screens I have looked up tom jones on the data base and know about the march 68, but the tom jones clip lookes abit fuzzy (it was a repeat as it says and maybe a bit fuzzy because of this)and was wondering if it was from a surviving episode or from the ZDF archive. As I don't have recordings of complete totp shows and am unanware of many of the sources of clips, I didn't know that the march 68 was that clip.
