A seperate list of BFI holdings not previously known about will be likely be published this year. Do keep on looking. Whether Kal or I do the list, I'm not sure yet. But if there are literally hundreds, that weren't lost, just not known about, I think an inventory should be made for future researchers.

This situation with the BFI holding much uncatalogued stuff is no surprise to me at all as I've been hearing this story from different sources for many years now (despite others stating catagorically that everything has been properly catalogued!). As Ray says though, it's potentially good news for discoveries of previously thought missing material. I wonder if - as an example - Menace: Boys & Girls Come Out To Play will be found to exist there eventually?
I hope we'll be able to get a complete list of all the uncatalogued recordings eventually. They deserve to be listed, properly transferred and made accessible!

Some interesting Rediffusion stuff turning up. I don't think I would be stepping out of line here to say that there was some Rediffusion at the BFI that I believe was uncatalogued. That was the case a few years ago. Maybe a few of these discoveries are newly catalogued titles?

Wow, let's hope this stuff really does exist. I knew about there being some uncatalogued Rediffusion, but never mentioned it publicly as I was under the impression it was just a matter of time before it was indexed. I didn't know what those titles were though apart from one episode of No Hiding Place. Let's hope there's some nice big gaps about to be plugged. I bet they wish they'd never made that database publicly available now!

The BFI told me specifically a while back that things were going on a new search engine. So glad there's some more stuff coming to light.

So the 'Colonel Crocks' at the LSA aren't just a crock? Sorry,couldn't resist.
Could I refer back to the Stryker thread,where 8 missing episodes were found at the drop of a hat at the LSA,followed by four more turning uo as two second-feature films held at the BFI (as are the episodes? I'm never sure where the finds shown on the LSA are physically held),which might suggest a policy of winnowing out duplications,since the four episodes in the two films were shown as part of the Stryker series.
Stryker was never the phenom. that the Saint or Paul Temple were,but the world seems a better place now that we know they survive.(Silly I know).It just seems odd that some of those who might have been thought likely to give a damn didn't.

I noticed two Hippodromes,25/01/61 and 10/10/66.Neither seems to be a date on which it might have been transmitted.Did it vary by region,or didn't that happen with Rediffusion?

Suspicion 1971 is missing in colour,as is Before Your Very Eyes 2/12/57,Jack Hylton's Sunday Show 10/2/58.(No information given on colour/b&w).
A 9 min.(?) episode of 'Murder Bag.

I believe that these are either listed as missing,or are worth a second look due to dates.

Oh! You got me all excited for a minute, as that's the only show featuring Lockhart that doesn't have any extant footage. 1967 is way too late for Murder Bag (the television series) by about 10 years, so it must be a short film about Scotland Yard with the same name.

It was broadcast on Anglia on the 10/10/66 and later that week on ATV Midlands (13/10/66), so there were definitely regional variations.
