Does the complete BBC "Arena" for March 10th, 1976 still exist in full ? This was a special programme devoted to video art, presented by David Hall. Although many of the videotapes shown still exist in artists collections, it would be interesting to know if the complete programme is in the archive.
David Hall had previously created a set of 7 "interruptions" which were shown, unannounced and without titles or explanation, on Scottish TV in August / September 1971 - the most famous of which gradually "filled" the screen with water. To quote the artist himself : "When announcing to shop assistants and engineers in a local TV shop that another was about to appear they welcomed me in. When it finished I was obliged to leave by the back door. I took these as positive reactions..."

To (sort of) reply to my own question - is there any way for a member of the public to easily find out if a particular programme exists in the BBC archives, other than by asking on a forum like this one and hoping someone with access to the BBC's internal records will look it up on their behalf ? The public access to the BBC's INFAX database has been closed down - is there any other way to quickly check the existence of BBC programmes ?

I assume this was from the very first series? Then again, I always thought it didn't start until '78.
