| | FORUM NEWCOMER? PLEASE READ RULES BEFORE POSTING! « Thread Started on Jan 2, 2009, 7:01pm » | |
FORUM RULES AND GUIDELINES (amended August 2010):DO NOT insult or abuse other members. Politeness costs nothing.
DO NOT DISCUSS TRADING. This is NOT a trading forum and discussion of tape / DVD collections or the use of file-sharing or torrent sites is not permitted. Posts that do not comply will be deleted.
DO NOT USE HANDLES. Full names please and nothing that sounds like a false or nickname (real name plus initial is acceptable but NOT just a single name). if you haven't already done so, go to your profile and edit your `Display Name`. For some strange reason, a small minority refuse to post under real names, even though it's being requested for very good reasons (i.e. to stop spam and people adopting others' identities) so anyone not complying with this basic rule will be deleted.
SIGNATURES & AVATARS are allowed but your signature can only be a maximum of 3 lines and may not contain any images.
KEEP ON TOPIC. It's preferred if a thread keeps to it's given subject. In exceptional circumstances (e.g. if new and interesting info is offered) this is allowed although it would be better to start a new thread under the new subject!
REPETITION OF TOPICS: Please check first to see if a thread on your topic has been started already in the past. If so, please add your comments to this one before starting a new thread and creating unnecessesary repetition.
QUERIES ON EXISTENCE OF SPECIFIC PROGRAMMES: if possible, avoid starting a new thread to ask a single one-answer question (e.g. "does x exist"?). Try looking initially at Kaleidoscope's lost shows database, which will likely have the information you require. They can can be found at: http://www.lostshows.com/ If the information is not there, then someone here may be able to help.
QUERIES ABOUT DELETED POSTS: if a thread or your post has been deleted, it is for a good reason (i.e. it doesn't comply with forum rules as laid out here). Please do not start a new thread to ask why it has been deleted! Instead, send a PM to a moderator for information.
ACCOUNT DELETION: moderators will periodically delete duplicate or inactive* accounts *older than 1 year and with no posts.
IF YOU HAVE A MISSING ITEM: If you think you have a programme that is missing from the archives (or know someone that does) and want to know what to do about returning a copy, please contact Chris Perry from Kaleidoscope (either via personal message (PM) to him here on the site or directly on the Kaleidoscope Lost Shows website at the web address given above). Alternately, contact Dick Fiddy c/o the British Film Institute (BFI). They will be able to tell you if the item is missing and pass you on to the correct body.
SUGGESTIONS: If you have suggestions for improvements or ideas on how the forum could work better, please contact Mark Brown directly. We do not currently have a section for this topic on the site, which is there to exchange information on missing TV rather than discuss administrative matters.
REMEMBER: the reason for deletion of a post is here in the guidelines section. Explanation does not have to be given (and it's very time consuming to do so for everyone that breaks the rules). However, PM a moderator privately if you are unclear.
Your cooperation is much appreciated, folks!
