If there is more footage there, it is really hard to tell. I was hoping the scene would continue on to the point where the Daleks were talking after leaving the capsule, but it didn't get that far.

It's known about - it was left off Lost in Time presumably because of the BP credits superimposed on the clip.

Remove the credits! How much work for how many frames?

Easier, surely,to add dialogue explaining that it's part of a Dalek experiment?

Only two seconds or so of film require the credits to be removed. Just where the words 'Editor BIDDY BAXTER' appear. Most of these words appear over a static shot of the doorway that is identical to previous parts of the clip. It would not be difficult to Photoshop where BAXTER appears over the moving dalek either. The clip could be extended by 2 seconds or so, for what it's worth.

This clip (various lengths) seems to pop-up quite a lot (Blue Peter/C for Computer/Alan Whicker) along with various versions of the Hartnell regeneration and the Dalek production line. Presumably there was/is a BBC clips compilation tape/film reel (somewhere) that was used time and time again in many shows (did they choose those Daleks only clips to avoid having to pay-off recognisable actors?). If so I guess it went the same way as the original episodes, but wouldn't it be absolutely lovely if this turned up at the back of someone's wardrobe.

Yes indeed Dave,
That would be quite pleasant to say the least if this item turned up out of the woodwork. I have heard rumors of this existing, but nothing definite.
I was hoping after reading your above comment that you had found out some piece of further information there possibly?

This has been well known about for years. We didn't put it on 'Lost in Time' just because the other clip was better quality despite being slightly shorter. Yes, it could be tidied up, but frankly I don't think it's worth it.
I don't think there ever was a compilation reel of the best bits of DW and there's certainly no evidence for it. The various clips were added over the years by film researchers from actual inserts or programmes.

The removal of those credits wouldn't be too difficult to do in a programme like After Effects.
I might have a go at it but I'm currently busy colourising a fairly long extract from DIoE. Might do it soon though if people would be interested in seeing the extra couple of seconds - text free!

Hi there richardtipple, I think that it would certainly be interesting to see those last few seconds 'corrected'. I'd also be interested in seeing that DIoE extract too! Richard.

Thanks Richard. In that case I'll have a go at the earliest opportunity. I'm currently working off very low res 'ripped' youtube videos. They're about 480p. In anyone can provide me with something a little higher res it'll obviously look a lot better!
Thanks for the interest in the colourisations. I'm no Babelcolour and am definitely struggling with skin tones but I'll try and have a clip ready soon. It'll be several minutes long and when you're hand colouring each frame, it's a hell of a job!

I well understand that. I tried some many years ago and even with a program that could carry colour areas on (one at a time) from one frame to the next it took so long I gave up after a few seconds screen time.

I hope the powers that be don't mind my posting this, but some interest was shown by a couple of users of this forum on this topic.
I've recently finished colourising Susan's goodbye from The Dalek Invasion of Earth. It's 1m 20' in duration so I make that about 2,400 frames that I've trawlled through one by one. It was one hell of a job and so much harder than doing a short clip as it can be difficult to see an end! When you're 1,200 frames in, and you know you've got it all to do again it's a bit of a killer! So it was a test of stamina and for that reason I'm proud of it!
As I've stated before I'm certainly no Babelcolour and I recognise that the skin tones are not great but I've honestly given it my best shot, working off a very low quality video. I'd appreciate any constructive feedback/subscribers/likes on my youtube channel.
