That one's been known about for some years, Ray - you may even find it listed in the thread on earlier Raiders recoveries, somewhere around 2007! It's definitely known though. :D

Don't forget to refer to those Raiders / Kal yearly listings, folks. I pinned them to the top of the thread permanently for everyone's reference (they'll also help sometimes when identifying items listed on the BFI's databases where it's not clear if something is already known about).

I wish the powers that be would make these things available (music footage seems to be the worst effected), or if I can't pay for it then at least viewable online somewhere.
I am not fussed about Cliff in complete honesty, but the abcense of the recovered Floyd totp footage irritates me no end.
Fans of other music I feel your grump!

Specifically UK pop material that's badly served, I'd say, as a lot of overseas stuff is more available either through screenings or DVD release.

I know that Nick Mason mentioned in an interview a few months ago that there was going to be another set this year (along the lines of the Dark Side / Wish You Were Here deluxe CD / DVD volumes) featuring material from the early years. No sign of such a set yet but that seems to me to be the ideal place for the Emily TOTP footage to be utilised. As the Floyd management have gone on record as promising to use the clip, if it's overlooked this time, I'd say we have every right to be grumpy about the situation!

That does sound promising. I for one would definitely purchase a DVD set of early Floyd footage. Fingers crossed it gets a release soon!

It never ceases to amaze me how we in the UK keep getting fobbed off when it comes to releasing our pop TV archives. Typically of Britain, we seem to be tangled up in endless red tape and bureaucracy whereas overseas they seem to have little trouble with not just their own archives but licensing UK material as well. A case in point - the Marc Bolan 1977 Granada TV series. Here, we ended up with a DVD featuring just Bolan's material whereas in Japan and maybe other countries, they got the complete unedited shows. Of course, that does mean we can acquire copies through various ways and means, but that's not the point... why can't we buy a DVD set in the UK containing those uncut shows, instead having just a compilation that hacks them up to ribbons and fails to give the full picture of what it was really like and about?

Look at the Beat Club sets... imagine IF the BBC had kept most of the TOTP's from that era. Would there be DVD boxsets containing all those shows uncut? Not a hope in Hell. It just baffles me because the BBC would merrily hack them up and show numerous clips - sometimes too many times for comfort in TOTP2 - but as soon as anyone mentions DVD's or releasing this material, suddenly it's a big no-go area.

It kinda pained me when I learnt of the 1972 "Lift Off With Ayshea" show being found AND the 90 minute compilation of odds and ends. That material is there but will we ever get the chance and see and own it on DVD? I think not. Yet, I'd bet a company like Holland's BR Music would have little problem or issues in licensing and releasing odd bits from those.

We now have 4 complete editions of "A Whole Scene Going" - any chance of a DVD of those? Nope.

I understand and appreciate there are "rights" issues and that people should be paid, but who is it that is actually making it a problem - the TV companies, the music companies, the Musicians Union, Equity or the people originally involved in the programs?

It's something that drastically needs sorting out. I love coming here and reading about all these discoveries but then I get sad and annoyed because just what are the chances of getting to see this stuff apart from MBW events which many of us can't really afford to travel to?

Yes, me too! This release though would be primarily several CDs with the DVD as an extra though, similar to the others already released. Still, an early Floyd DVD set is something that's been wanted for many years so...
