There is some existing BBC film of the Magical Mystery Tour bus arriving in one of the West Country locations - Paul McCartney interviewed (briefly) by Hugh Scully. Beyond that, there is just a few home movies.

‘Hello Goodbye’ (3m 24s), as featured in Top of the Pops, Christmas Day 1967 The Beatles allowed the BBC to film them in the edit suite where they were working on Magical Mystery Tour. This was then turned into a promo by the BBC, who shot their own additional footage. It was then broadcast on Top of the Pops to mark the ‘Hello Goodbye’ single going to No 1 in December 1967.
It's on the DVD confirmed - so THAT'S why it was unavailable when I asked the BBC. TA-DA!

I'm pretty sure the BBC didn't have this footage. I'd imagine Apple were the ones who kept hold of this TOTP promo.
below a screenshot from the 'Hello Goodbye' TOTP promo.

This MMT release looks like a tempting package, very nicely restored and with good extras. The only glaring omission for me are the three colour promos for Hello Goodbye (and I always felt that MMT was the natural home for the song, even though it didn't appear in it). It's lovely to have the TOTP promo for it plus the Traffic performance and extra song edits for other Beatles songs though.

Me too - although I am slightly phased by the price tag! £20 for the standard DVD alone!

Yes, especially as it's not a long playing time in total. So it's a case of wait for the sales! Although (if the example of Anthology is anything to go by) it may be an age before it can be bought at a reasonable price in this way. To date I have not upgraded to DVD with Anthology as I figured I'd already spent well enough on the series (over £100 all told) for the VHS version without forking out again.

Same here. I'm utterly sick and tired of the fact because it's The Beatles then it automatically carries a higher price tag than usual. The Anthology VHS' were a severe investment back in the day... especially now you can get that for next to nothing since the DVD version rendered it obsolete.

I agree with the postings on the higher charges yes they are a bit greedy to say the least.
I am so pleased this dvd/ bu ray is coming out.the quality before was poor compared to what we can do now.The deluxe collectors set price is really steep at £59. We await Let it Be Next year now that will be a real gem. If all this extra footage turns up we wonder what other gems that apple and maybe the Beatles themselves have in the archives? any guesses anyone?

I read once that around the 'Anthology' time McCartney was having dinner with Bill Wyman of the Stones (and their acknowledged 'archive man'). McCartney was bemoaning the lack of video/film of The Beatles. Bill said he had a few clips of The Beatles (as well as his Stones stuff). McCartney commented that 'You have more of us than we do!'. So...........I wouldn't hold your breath for any more archive releases apart from 'Let It Be'. But then, there's the DVD of the promo films for the singles, something I still can't believe is something we don't have.

In Bill Wyman's biography "Stone Alone" he states he archived Stones memorabilia going back to their earliest days and it was only by chance during a conversation with John Lennon in the mid-sixties The Beatles began to do the same. George Harrison's in introduction to his book "I Me Mine" as it that John Lennon told him don't throw anything away. So would be very little material he before that point by Bill Wyman either.
