Could the Sugar Sugar playout been a similar case to 26-12-67 which seems to have a lengthy ending beyond the BBC logo? Tape a full length outro which could be faded out on transmission? But then again, if it was a playout record then the credits end before the main bulk of the song begins and I really can't see that dancing girl sequence ever being transmitted!
Either way these fragments are interesting but frustrating to watch since they're so haphazard and random. For instance had I been a VT engineer able to preserve some bits and bobs, back then, the Pan People bits would immediately be thrown out the window in favour of some performance footage. I've stated it before that I have no love nor fondness for the dance troupes on TOTP and it upsets me that various bits of them in action got preserved when I know there is interesting band or singer performances that could had been preserved instead. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have these bits and pieces of the early colour days of TOTP, but... there is the very start of Thunderclap Newman in colour only to stop... and we instead get plenty of audience or Pan's People frugging... sigh...

I don't think it could be an extended ending because the producer credit only appears after all the close-ups of the girl! Thinking about it, I reckon it could be a feed from one of the cameras being unofficially recorded to VT, the same camera composing his shot properly when he's told they'll be coming to him next (over which is placed the caption). That sounds the most likely to me - whatever, it wasn't transmitted that way but could well be what one of the cameras that was "off" was framing in his viewfinder!

That would be *exactly* my guess as well - a raw studio feed from one camera, so some "normal" shots when needed were used - but - when other camera's are chosen, I guess the cameraman just wanted to experiment a little!

The footage between the strippers and the colour bars sounds like Congratulations by Cliff Richard.
........now having watched the footage a bit further I can see it was indeed Cliff.
