Ok, this is a b/w transfer of what mainly appears to be existing orphan clips from mainly Bob Pratt tapes of TOTP.
For example the Xmas 69 outtakes, and Brown Sugar and Lily the Pink (white suits), Clodagh Rogers etc, and also, what I'm sure is Congratulations from Pop Goes the Sixties.
Nonetheless, there are some odds and ends, people may want to check. Apparantly there is a millisecond of Thunderclap Newman somewhere.
There is also an unidentified comedy sketch and also ##WARNING## some strippers. Just in case any of you are offended by ""T, A & F"". If any of you can spot anything missing here, let me know.

Odd to see B&W vt copy of colour bars...
certainly a few clips of Sid Caesar on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In in that lot.

Ah, that's what the comedy was.
If anyone can identify the strippers footage...........let me know. Just in case it's from a missing show. No other reason!

A strange mish mash that is ultimately frustrating with it's brief flashes of interesting material - and I'm not referring to the strippers! It does explain the creative editing used when Sounds Of The 60's showed "Honky Tonk Women" since the intro and ending are missing. Always amusing to see the TOTP audience frugging.
I recall it once being suggested that some of these tapes were a secret porn stash and that somebody at the BBC had a thing about blonde women and Clodagh Rogers hence odd isolated performances of Clodagh exist, and that infamous clip of the busty blonde girl dancing to Sugar Sugar from the end of a TOTP show that surely wasn't broadcast. Now seeing all this stripper footage amongst it all... Hmmm...

There was definitely some sort of small porn stash at the BBC in the late 60's or early 70's, but don't ask me any more questions. My lips are sealed (insert joke here if you REALLY have to..............)

The section in the mashup featuring the strippers is a brief section of a brilliant film which has been re released in DVD format.
According to the end credits filming took place in August 1964 narrated by Dennis Tuohy (he who launched BBC 2) a synopsis here........
PRIMITIVE LONDON (1965)(Ex. colour) U.K. Film. A "Mondo" film that captures the seedy side of London in the mid-60s. But there's much more…particularly for aficionados of 1960s rock and roll and youth culture. Yeah! We're told about the three types of teenagers: Mods, Rockers and Beatniks. We see a mod in a male boutique and learn about motor scooters and the peacock trend in male dress. It's all very cool! Rockers wearing metal-studded leather jackets and jackboots explain their feelings towards mods, motorcycles and government. At the Ace Café, while the Beatles, "Can't Buy Me Love" is playing, rockers get into a huge brawl; then "make out" with their girlfriends! Teenage girls soak in a bathtub wearing blue jeans so they'll shrink to a skintight fit. A fab record store segment shows screaming teenage fans mauling Billy J. Kramer as he walks into a record store for a guest appearance while former 1950s teenage star, Terry Dene goes unnoticed amid the chaos. Merseybeat/R&B group The Zephyrs (who also appeared in the film, Be My Guest) are shown rocking in a club while mods are dancing wildly. Teenagers are interviewed about beatniks, lifestyle choices, music, drugs, sex, marriage, etc. A bluesy guitar and harp player wail out in a crowded pub. Also: A hair salon showcasing the latest hairstyles. Cynical advertising men conjure up a new sales pitch for coffee. A fashion show featuring topless dresses. Women practicing judo and getting tattoos. Male bodybuilding and wrestling. Fat, hairy men in Turkish baths. A Jack the Ripper reenactment. Prostitutes in dark alleys. Wife swapping parties. Excellent footage of London streets during the day and night.

All that material exists in colour though. Any idea why it's b/w there, Ray?

I suspect the uploader deliberately stripped most of the colour out before uploading. You can see it trying to leak through on the Stones performance though. Only like what other YouTube uploaders have done, plastering onscreen captions, or worse as one poster used to do, fastforwarding through performances or adding psychedelic effects...

Seems to be a bit of a recurring "theme" with most of these clips?
Always good to see the young lady dancing to Sugar Sugar! I guess this dates from 26/12/69?
Blimey - just thought - bet she's collecting her bus pass by now! Scary....
So are all these clips all from the Bob Pratt collection? Presumably all this material on the second You Tube upload is still in colour?
Does anyone know who has access to these recordings (and how?) Just Curious as to where they've been all this time etc...

These Bob Pratt clip tapes have been round all along and seem to be all there is of those performances. Why they have leaked out now is anyone's guess - someone with access has chosen to post them online.
Sugar Sugar looks to be from a regular edition, rather than an Xmas show. But presumably it's a camera run-through rather than what went out (for obvious reasons!)

Yeah, I didn't think the Sugar Sugar clip was from a Christmas (Boxing Day) edition..... but, seeing as it seems to be a definite play out clip over the end credits, looking up the details seems to indicate that the only edition that played out with this (i.e. audience dancing and not the video) is 26/12/69?
Whatever the case, still good to see!
