Quote: Quote:Good Idea Jonathan Regarding the additional clips. I understand that those clips shown on the christmas editions were actually from earlier in the year (where i've listed them). If they are different then i'll list them in the christmas editions aswell, perhaps someone knows on this forum?

Sorry, you're probably right, I wasn't paying enough attention. However, I can't see "Get It On" listed and I doubt that the Pans "My Sweet Lord" is a repeat from January.

Well, I might have doubted it but you are indeed right about "My Sweet Lord" as it is obvious that the set design is from early '71. ooops...

There are two great Slade clips in full from ZDF "Disco" "Gudbuy T' Jane" and the original "Cum On Feel The Noize" which is the March 73 performance, with Dave Hill in his `Metal Nun` outfit!

Overseas TV seems the most likely source. These particular clips have been doing the rounds for a while now (apart from the Cliff Richard one, which I think is a mute filmed insert residing at the BBC). There's also another Manfeds clip of Semi-Detatched Suburban from 1966 out there too. I seem to remember there are others as well, such as The Kinks' Wonderboy etc (although I haven't seen this particular one myself, screen stills were posted on here a while back). If the BBC took it upon themselves to trawl the archives out there, they'd find a large number of TOTP clips!

I've now completed the updates (errors & omissions) thanks to all, and i've also added 1975 to the database. Please feel free to point out mistakes and omissions from this year aswell. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/e.watkins/musictv/interest.htm

Paul - your data site is brilliant.
You may wish to add to it the 12/12/74 Rod Stewart/Faces performance of YOU CAN MAKE ME DANCE SING OR ANYTHING. Although this is shown as not being in the archive on the BBC list, it certainly exists at the BBC somewhere. The performance is an exclusive, specially shot for TOTP, B&W promo, filmed at the Lewisham Odeon, London. I can confirm it exists as it was repeated some ten years later at the end of an edition of Pop Quiz and I have a copy. Mike Read, the host on Pop Quiz, in his ignorance stated the film had never been shown on TV before. Obviously it was an insert that got mis-filed and the producers of Pop Quiz did not know where it had come from, its origination or the fact that it was a TOTP promo. There is no question that this is the film from TOTP however, it can be varified by fans who saw it at the time and the live vocal and performance match the audio tape from TOTP exactly.
Hope this helps.

Righteous Bros - Loving Feeling used in TOTP 25th Ann programme, so presumably at BBC.

Another addition from 1974 is (I'm embarrassed to say) Lena Zavaroni's 'Ma He's making Eyes At Me'.

Gary Re your DISCO TOTP clips! Shocking Blues "Inkpot" is NOT! a TOTP clip! They performed that on the DISCO show itself! I bought (Legally) copies of DISCO shows from the First (Feb 1971) up to October 1973! The TOTP (As far as I know) stop at T.Rex "20th Century Boy" (Only partial clip) and Slade's "Cum On Feel The Noize" (Full) I can't see the other Shocking Blue bieng TOTP either! Hawkwinds "Silver Machine" Is that Promo featuring Stacia (The stripper) which has been on TOTP2.

The list is looking good, Paul. A very useful reference. A couple of things worth mentioning on first glances though:
I'm pretty sure the Visions film insert exists at the BBC (mute). Also, where you are listing promo films that were used by TOTP, these will all almost certainly exist outside of the BBC anyway (with the company that made them). But putting them down on a TOTP list only really muddies the water as they can't really be considered as TOTP material, whether missing or otherwise (e.g. the filmed Flowers In The Rain promo, which was "bought-in" material). The Visions clip though, in contrast, was shot for TOTP and therefore it's relevant to include it in the list.
I'll go through the whole list when I have time, though.
