i would be keen to hear any news of restoration of these radio shows. I am a big fan of parsley sidings but some of the recordings i have are really bad.
Also New Level Crossing is the only episode that isn't readily available.I think this is probably because it is (apparently) such a poor recording so any work that can improve this is much appreciated

He-he - what a teaser! ;)

The BBC have just released it on CD, well, back in March. An online review states: "In fact, the episode The New Level Crossing, which is included on this collection, was only rediscovered in 2008. However, recordings of all the episodes are known to exist in various private collectors hands (most of which were off air recordings from the original radio broadcasts."

Other eps are S1E10, S2E3 & S2E4.

Hi, could you please tell us where you found this episode as we are all desperate to listen to it. Regardless of the quality...

Just a reminder that tape trading (and indeed modern day equivalents) is not allowed here.

As Barry says above, it's now available commercially from Amazon and many other sources. Under £6 for the CD containing it and three other episodes. No trading needed on this one.

I have just found the CD on Amazon, and yes I certainly will be buying it from there. It is just annoying as I've got all the other episodes including those on the disc, and I don't see the point of repeating myself unless they are a better quality.

I have just found out that the 4 episodes on the disc can be purchased individually price £1.24 from audiogo as mp3 files.

So if you've already got the other episodes on the disc like I have and only want episode 8, then this is the place to get it from legitimately. And the quality is amazing considering that everyone keeps saying it's supposed to be poor!

The address for their web-site is: http://www.audiogo.com/uk/parsley-sidings-episode-4-jim-eldridge-gid-61224e

P.S: Once you've purchased the file you will need to have java installed to download it.

QUOTE: Mr Wilkojc said: “I have had a rough go (at mixing the old and new recordings) and it sounds very authentic - Keith is a real old trooper. He has done a really good job and I am very pleased at this early stage.”

• Episodes of Parsley Sidings are currently planned to be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Extra in November.

• Anyone with tapes of old BBC Radio programmes they would like to send to the BBC should email radio4extra@bbc.co.uk
Unquote.

Keith Skues at Radio Norfolk has re-recorded Parsley Sidings credits, I suspect for those with the missing endings mainly! As the Internet archive recordings have been pulled, I have supplied BBC 4 extra with all the MP3 episodes I have on computer (20 in all) for possible broadcast - they would have prefered the original tapes, but I had a tree fall on the roof of my home in June, & they were destroyed along with lots of other material.
It is amazing how the new level crossing appeared!
Bob

PS of course, this all started in this very thread ;D

I have both of these as MP3s direct from the sadly destroyed original tapes.
