Perhaps "significant" might be a more appropriate term.

Indeed! Technically, the answer to the original question is "all of them"..!

I think 'from 1980' would have been a better date!
Taking 80's and 90's wipings as an area, the most significant wipings seem to be kids shows.
The Adam Lee wipings have been discussed in length, and it is a tragedy. Cheggers Plays Pop, Swap Shop, Get Set, Play School, Aniaml Magic....just a few examples, plus some Adventure Games, Why Don't You....all of these have episodes missing.
TVS' Fraggle Rock is MIA somewhere, in full broadcast format.
There are tons of Regional News shows that have gone, from for example Tyne Tees and ATV. There are probably many more examples.
Some entetainment shows are gone too, Starbursts and surpringly, a few Thames shows from the early 80's.
There are a fair few British Sky Broadcasting shows missing too.
That's a few examples. Sorry (slightly) to backdate my answers to 1980.

Many people have a special part in their heart for childrens shows as it had a signifcant role in a childs development and experiences. (nostalgia) If you have shows geared toward senior citizens, sadly those who related to them will be dead in 50 years.
The Fraggle Rocks are MIA until someone decides that they already have the american versions so these prints are redundant.

Any advice and i can pass it on to him

I'm pretty sure that the British TVS versions had specially recorded sequences that weren't part of the American versions, hence people mourning the loss of the UK TX masters. I can't be certain though, as it was after my time watching kid's tv, although I do have a vague memory of Fulton Mackay being the lighthouse keeper.

You are absolutely right, which is why they are sought after.

I'd check and list any recordings from Channel 4. which commissions all its material from independents. Anything made by a company which is now defunct may be significant and potentially missing.
There is currently a search for any recordings of Jack Hargreave's Old Country for instance.

Are they all missing, Ian? Or do some survive? I was pleased to see recently that some of the later Out Of Towns - previously thought missing - are now coming out on DVD.

My personal thoughts is that any tv shows recorded off air from 1977onwards could be significant.
I am not up to date with 1985 onward in uk however it would be great if someone who is more knowledgeable could follow up on this.

Well even in 1985, programmes such as Bod and Chock a Block were still being repeated, I believe, so there's a slim chance that a daytime tape might contain a recording of a missing edition of one of those.
If you're happy to lend out the tapes, I'm sure someone would be willing to go through them.

There are also 23 episodes of the daytime soap, "Take The High Road", that are missing from the STV archive. Most are from 1985 and 1986 with the most recent being 2002!
